on some of the VNT's they have a pressure actuator (most are vacum fed) as the pressure goes up the vanes open in a fairly linear fashion, sou you'll see somthing like a few PSI low down, building as the revs rise, you can then use an electronic boost controller or ECU to bleed the boost to what you want,

However what I'm looking at doing next is using an RC servo to control the vane position, the servo will be controlled by my megasquirt, and will have the benift of being able to open the vanes at cruise.

The only issue I see with the VV setup is that it wont actually spool up without the right amount of fuel, flow, heat etc (ie/ same as a normal turbo - if it wont spool it wont spool) the VV WILL obviously help it spool lower down with less 'bang' in the ex-manifold but still not how I would like.

I have spent alot of time reading and mucking about with firing up the turbo earlier - aka Anti-Lag... but I dont want the 'bang-bang' anti-lag setup like on WRC cars etc. The way they work are when you are OFF the throttle it retards timing and adds fuel through ex manifold and therefore when the vales are open the exhaust manifold becomes part of the chamber - hence - you hear that bang bang sound and the turbo spools up. All ECU controlled and stuff...

At WSID it happened to me accidentally - was funny actually lol.
My MJ setup cuts spark at a certain RPM - not a hard rev limit - but soft. So, I went 1st, second and wound it up to the limit and then the car jolted a bit, bang, bang, looked at boost - was over 16psi - BETWEEN shifts! and was set to 15psi then changed to 3rd and just FRIED tyres. So in short, it kept fuel pumping, then spark cut out, when revs dropped during shift spark came back and presto - full boost.

Im planning on running an anti-lag setup off either a manual switch or a clutch switch + main switch so that I can turn anti-lag on if I want and it spools up the turbo between 1500rpm and 3500rpm (only 7-10psi) making it work is the issue lol.

There are ECUs that can do it all, but I need to work out a way to plumb it all up nicely and simply - yet safely.

If we have that sorted out, then we no longer have any of the 'lag' issues that our motors struggle with... ie/ spool up earlier and be ready.

Happy to hear thoughts though...

Pete

You can get a bosch solenoid/electronic valve that sends a signal to the MJ - was going to do that to my setup before EFI... based on certain things you set it (RPM etc) and it should do what you want.

Ok, ducking for cover a little - since I KNOW DOZ is going to bring back all of my smart a$$ quotes telling him to get rid of Injection and go back to a carby - but here goes:

Phase II of project Jenna has begun.
