Oh god.... I have memories of cross threading the steering column nut on a previous car... then having to weld the steering wheel onto the column (cos thats all I could afford at the time). Luckily the guy who bought it (the next day) never noticed.

Back on topic.... what kind of performance gain or loss would you get by having a siamesed exhaust port? I would expect a power LOSS with 2+3 siamesed.... :?

Is there enough room for 4-2-1 extractors?????

I would NOT expect much power loss with 2-3 siamesed, as the exhaust pulses are 360* apart and evenly spaced.

I've heard a well known local alloy head maker is looking at developing a 7 porter, too.

Is it just me or is $3700 a heap of cash?
Yeah I'd like a 7 porter but I dont think I could justify a splash like that.

P&L do a clubman to Vtec frame kit for similar

Hmm what to do?

But if you stick a Honda in a mini it is a hini or a monda and dont forget to add the $2000 plus for engineering it to make it legal

Well if you put on a 7 port head with webers, a gemini starter and pulsar dizzy you recon you still have a mini yeh? what do you call it a wegesarini?? Oh I forgot the Camira disks, Torana mags and suzuki seats, well we'll have to call it a really long name or we could just call it a cool mini like a Vtec being a cool mini.

So $2000 to get it engineered will give you a package that runs on unleaded with 5 forward gears that start nice, revs nicer and last a lot longer then any a series. I'll pay the 2k EXTRA

I really think it comes down to what is a mini, is it the body shape or the whole concept of the original designer. There is nothing wrong with a Vtech honda, great little cars but I really doubt that when they are 50 years old will anyone collect them. I build classic Lotus's and kit cars these days and for me to make a mini without an A series just makes it another kit car, a mini in its original concept has a certain character ( with all its faults) and charm. Good luck with the Vtech conversion

Ok so now we say a mini is only a mini when not modified with mods available after it's year of manufacture. Interesting on the availability of 40 year old tyres, batteries, leads, etc etc. If I parked a honda powered mini next to a stockie I bet 100% of people would call both a mini

98% would call it a mini.... the other 2% we call "purists" would cry. Even if it only had the 7 port modification.

My main dislike of the A-series is the non-crossflow design. Originality is good, improvemnts are good too. Just the fact that somebody actually owns and drives a mini is enough for me to like it.

Its not a question about originalty its about what is a mini, don't forget you will have to extend the nose by 4 inches on a roundnose to let your honda fit

Both KC and GR reckon the AKM/MiniSport head design has problems.

I've heard there's just not enough inlet gas velocity to get good torque & power.

Bit hard to make curved ports smaller if they're cast too big...

So you don't know any metal spinners who could whip up some inserts Doc :?:

As for......98% would call it a mini.... 100% of non-Mini folk would probably call both Cooper S :!:
