even if you could buy a kit, you'd need the carb, and plenum which arent that easy to get i think..

Tell you what, if Ben decides to sell Exhaust Manifolds for Mini Turbo's thats up to him.
It took him a long time, lots of hours and work... also the dump pipe is alot more complicated than it looks in the pics.

Ill leave it up to him to tell you if he would want to make and sell them... the pipes are a work of art, seriously. I dont know if I should run them on my motor or put on my mantel :)

Pete.

Hmmm, looks like there may be a slight hiccup :(

No ARP Head stud kits around... well, not that I could find. Might have to wait until they arrive in the country.

I have been promised by one supplier they have already ordered and will arrive on Thursday so ill check again then.

Otherwise, going great.

Ben will put up a couple more pictures of the new bits we got for it soon.

Cheers,
Peter.

yep manifold is made from 25mm steam pipe , called buttweld elbows at one steel, there fairly cheap and easy to work with and come in differend sizes and angles. Probly no use for N/A but perfect for turbo as they are a medium wall (3mm) so no flex or cracking.

here's a bit of an update , enzed made the custom feed for the turbo, and the dump pipe is done , so all thats left is the intake pipe and the oil drain , should be already this weekend and if everything else is ready we can fit.

Yeah, this is the same stuff--->
Image

I Had these turbo V8 manifolds made up yonks ago out of the steam pipe stuff & it really does work a treat,,, It risists cracking & warping & also soaks up the resonance involved with the harmonics & sh!t produced by the in-different pulses caused by the bang bang bang pulses eminating from the donk,,, & the wizz wizz wizz type thing happening with the turbo--> if you get my drift :-) (pretty dam technical talk i know :-) )

apparently it`s a big problem with turbo cars , especially when you have all that heat added into the picture glowing red -or - white hot as the case may be :-)

:-)

Image

Or you can go to the time money & trouble of doing this type of thing-->
Image

& spend a fortune with all this special stainless sh!t they use in helecopters, but at $7 per inch & the amount of time it takes to get it all perfect, why bother really,,, steam pipe is fine & does the job admirably

:-)

How are you planning to protect the top engine mount and firewall from all the heat that exhaust is going to generate? You obviously can't use rubber in there, it'll just burn up...

We are putting in heat shields.
To protect that and mainly the clutch and brake lines and the slave cylinder from boiling the fluid.

Cheers,
Peter

Yeah, was worried about that ;) Will that be enough, or do you think you might need to get exotic with materials (i.e. ceramics)? I can imagine that engine mount is going to conduct a lot of heat to the firewall directly..

We'll think of something... nothing actually planned as yet for that.
More than likely we will protect it somehow. Discussed heat shields but not in great detail.

Will update with pics, info etc...

Pete.

Yeah, but his turbo was further away from the cylinders and his dump pipe went up and over them, mine is going smack bang along them pretty much.

Definately will put in a heat shield... or 5 hehe

Pete.
