Although I have already fitted a Pulsar alternator to my Countryman,
I am fascinated by these new "over-run" pulleys fitted to the alternators on current model Mercs, Audis, Mazdas, etc.

I would imagine that they would have an instant application on any performance motor, as they allow the alternator to keep spinning at high rpm when you change gears so:
a) the engine revs drop more quickly
b) the engine revs back up faster as there is less load on it
c) the alternator produces power more consistently as its speed is not fluctuating as much, and should have a longer life.

Have you had any experience with these, or are they too new to be needing repairs yet?

I have not had much to do with them yet but they do make sense in theorey. They would not be a direct fit for any Mini application though as all the ones I have seen so far are for the Poly Rib belts. You also have to bear in mind that they are another thing on the car that can play up. I don't think you will notice the difference that they make unless you have expensive and sophisticated test equipment. You can also buy tools for undoing them and pulling them apart. $$$$$$$$$.
