Again..there are no substitutes for cubes...

If you want reliability with quite satisfactory performance, rebuild the smallbore and you'll keep up with Cooper S's...

I went the smallbore route cause it's what i already had to work with..

1275's go for around the $600 mark on average...

Thanks for the pricelist. I will be doing most of the work myself. So far ive stripped a good 998 block (i think ill conveniently leave the 99H prefix on it, who's to know that it'l have a 83mm crank in it)- removed all welsh plugs and the gallery plugs. Is it really worth doing what Vizard recomends and tapping the core plug holes? Not a bad idea, My S had it done, I will use 9/16" UNF plugs in my stroker as the 1/2" bore is about right to tap that size. Only needed on the oil pressure gallery side, not the drain one near the cam.
Also drifted out the camshaft bearings, the rear one was well and truely rooted. My memory tells me i will have to get the new cam bearings line honed, am i right? NO they come prefinished now, but need to be put in by a reco shop that has the gear.
Sounds like the best bet is to put an re-13 in. I would also like to get a lighted flywheel or get one lightened but ive heard bad stories about when they are lightened incorrectly (exploding and fragments amputating legs etc.). How true is this and should i really be worried?
Properly lightened they are OK to 8000 which is more than you need..
thanks for the input

No ill keep the brakes thanks, i spent too much reconditioning them and i also need them. I managed to get them fading quite badly with the current 1115 on a nice twisty road, i must have been giving it a bit between the corners... tacho was reading a bit past 5000 in top on a 3.44

Well if you have the brakes and you are going to spend $1000 to $1500 on redoing the 1100 then a few more $ on an oil cooler etc won't break the bank!

There is no substitute for CC!

Sell the 7.5's to gaf and put 9.2" Brakes on ;) sounds like you need them..i've never experience fade on the road, and very minimal on the track at the end of the straight or wakefield..

Well if try and put 9.2's on ill have to go to 12" wheels... so i probably wouldnt gain anything out of selling the 7.5 's' discs from the banks point of view... maybe i should go earn some more money.
Actually how much would a 1275 add to the value of my car? if it added more than $700 to the value it would be a wise move actually would it not?

Probably minimal value, I would argue that the cost of a car is mostly determined by the condition of the body. Some people place value on motors though..
