I had a set fitted to one of my mini's when I brought it. I assume they were from Japan as the car was... They were lime green in colour.

I sold them because they were too much like a hydro car for my liking but maybe just a little stiffer. I much prefer the ride on rubber cones 8) but of course that is just a personal preference.

The springs seemed very good and during an incident with one of those stupid 'gym balls' at about 80kph where I ended up on 2 wheels they did not fall out (I guess if they were going to fall out from going over a bump surely in this extreme they would have).

With this experience I would happily buy another set but they would have to be stiffer...

I got a set of UK ones (yellow if I remember correctly) with a job lot of parts. I sold them brand new to a member here. He called me soon after saying one had totally collapsed. The spring hadn't been heat treated properly and just sagged to the bump stops. The buyer is still on here and may wish to comment.

Two of these had been fitted to teh car I bought but the car was engineless so I knew they hadn't been driven on. When I jacked up the car they did just drop out of place. I can't remember if I had removed the damper first, probably.

I have written about these before and my opinoin is that small cars with high change in tare to gross load should have progressive rate springing. If the car is only ever driven with one or two people on board, then linear rate springing can be a great thing. Certainly race cars with linear rate are reportedly more predictable to drive and therefore easier for an amateur than rising rate springing. (I had an interesting history lesson on Formula Ford suspension design by an expert once. Early ones had falling rate, then they went to linear rate with rocker top arms, now they are rising rate with push rods. Faster but trickier.)

Gareth, I do not have them fitted to my car yet. But since I checked out the Ride Quality of these springs I have been convinced to the point that I have bought two sets and they are sitting here ready to fit to two of my Minis as soon as I have a chance. I bought the Japanese ones from MST. and they are Progressive. I hope I can fit them correctly so they don't fall out!
