Seeing that you are rebuilding the gearbox you would be mad not to fit an LSD as long as you can afford it.
When you upgrade the suspension you will be cornering faster so you will still need the LSD.
I was wondering if it was only that corner due to the crest, I figured that the next corner was the important one!
How does it go into the corner onto the pit straight? Does the banking help stop wheelspin or does it still light up? That corner goes on forever!

hey mate

does anyone in australia offer dogbox set ups?

The crest at the top of the hill is the cause, and the next corner (calvins) is quite important, fast and fun!

and yes, the corner coming onto the start finish does go on for ever! it does spin in third but stops when about half way round.

im still learning, so im sure I will learn the best way to take each corner. just need to get the car sorted. (working/running properly)

KG Engineering in Melbourne did 5 & 6 speed dogboxes, sadly they are no more.
UK is the only supply now, cheapest to bring in direct.

I was informed by an old succesful racing driver that in a mini if you have an open diff, if you go through corners hard on the accelerator and a bit on the brakes as you go round, it sortof acts like a lsd

So what would be the best diff for this kind of situation?
Are the true LSD's best or would you go for one like the Quaife ATB?
Is the Quaife one worth the extra money?

I think MiniSpeed in England were working on a 5 speed sequential dog box with keith Calver,,, i may be wrong but worth an ask

I have a 6 speed SC/CR Aussie built KG doggy box here :-) The gears are way to big & heavy tho & there are too many of them,,, (All those oil pumps) i can feel the power being sucked from the donk because of it,,, i`d much rather a really lightweight 5 speed (one-to-one top) sequential doggy,,, MMmmmmmmmmm Yummy-tell-your-mummy :-)

Ive got a quaife ATB LSD in my 1132 turbo - makes a MASSIVE difference to grip and especially in corners with the same tyres! Definately recommended.

Without it, I was lighting up all gears when it came on boost - that doesnt happen anymore (lights up both in second at WOT and full boost.

I dont think the cross pin open diffs are worth the $$ imho - same as a normal open diff and will not help your wheel spin problems at all...

The quaife is not heavy except when tyre pressures are low (like for the drags)
Mine doesnt torque steer much, but I know of other peoples that will drag you across 3 lanes on a highway... I think that has alot to do with the geometry (ie/ if you have adjustable lower arms and tie rods then you can sort out the torque steer.

Go the quaife. $1500 basically... takes your crownwheel and pinion so you can run any ratio you have (3.2, 3.44, 3.6, 3.7 etc

Pete
