Have you considered getting some dished pistons instead of flat top?

I hear they are better for combustion (well, that it moves the piston better/ burns more evenly or some such!) than flat top anyway!

good luck,

Matthew

Area of cylinder = 2 Pie r2 x Height

Edits to include MadMatt's terms for clarity:

= 356.2168 cc's per cylinder. Plus 21.5cc head chamber and 3.5cc head gasket;

Total volume of 381cc, (CV + SV)

Compressing to 25cc (CV). So total volume/CV =

15.24:1 compression ratio, static.

Nick, we must be missing something in working out static compression ratios?

If you had a 6cc dished piston, plus a 24cc chamber head, plus 1.5cc at top of piston at TDC,

SV = 356.2168, CV = 24+1.5 + 3.5 + 6 (35cc)
Total Volume = 391.21....cc

391.21/35 = 11.17:1 CR Static.

The more dish in the piston the less to take off the head!

Hmm, I think, you will need to:
Burette the head as Madmatt says, Burette the top of the bore with piston at TDC.

Get some 6mm dished pistons, and do the minimal work to the head for good flow, you'll be somewhere around this figure without monstering the head.

If you are boring to 74.7 and using Triumph 2.5PI pistons they are heaps shorter, so just don't deck it heaps. Leave them down the bore a bit. 8)

Sadly, the block had been machined when i bought it, so im stuck with what i got. :?

why do i gravitate towards these weird engines? :lol: makes life interesting i guess.

i believe elder will make a fairly large chamber if you ask them !!!

Doc is right with the triumph 2500 pistons,,,, ususally they are well down the bore tho, so i can`t see them being in there unless someone has decked a good 1/4 of an inch or more off the top of the block,,, anything is possible these days tho, every Tom, Dick & Harry has had a go at reco-ing mini engines & all sorts of wild & wiered combinations have been born

Mine is actually like that tho & i`m using small bore poush rods & shortened head studs :-)

But be carefull tho because there is also the triumph 2000 piston which is the same bore but is quite tall

buy a burette,,, it`ll be the best thing you ever bought

& i can make your cyl head chambers into a bath tub if you need it that way, don`t be scared

Edit,,, Ok so i just re-read your first post,,, It really IS like my 1510 donk , except without the extra stroke

still,,, i can make your head into a bathtub, just give me a stock one that hasn`t been shaved & you`ll be sweet, I`ve got 32cc out of them quite commonly & have actually made a 35cc one years ago & it`s still a runner

I just don`t recomend that you try that at home kids, i really don`t like to see wasted 1275cc cyl heads :-)
