Cush, you are right pre-ADR but I failed my inspection yesterday at Regency (no defects though!) for a few reasons, well roll cage is one, taking that out toi get passed (I'll fix that issue tho... hehehehe), anyways as for ADRs... They said that I need demister pipes, not just a heater as having a demister for the front window is an ADR, I said that's it's pre ADR yet they said it still needs them, so yeah fix the car and go back, in fact they don't expect you to pass first go, you get two. Then I think you have to pay again LOL, all cos of my 1275.

Anyways i read through the forms when I got home and it said 'Month and Date: 68" what does that mean? It's a 1964...hmmm. They were nice blokes though, one of them races a Cooper S (a genuine, so he says, I don't know) as a member of the 'Sporting car Club'. Most of my problem wers small, like a oil leak here, and a bolt here and there that they didn't like.

slinksta,

all the emissions gear that came with the engine has to be fitted....

so newer engines need bucket loads of pipes :)

Yeah I know, but it's a MK Cooper S engine so it can't be that late, it's number 47077 actaully. I did a little research and the demister ADR is no longer applicable, they ceased the ADR a few years ago. Also being pre-adr anyways... Spoke to a mates dad who drives an MGB he says he doesn't know many people who have passed first go, they like to have a name (regency) for being strict and tough so they pick on silly things, for example my brake pedal rubber slightely worn and a spring washer, which was really tight, not being collapsed enough for their standards also my bonnet pins, they stick out, that's dangerous, but my radio aerial base stick out more so but isn't a problem becasue it's not a 'custom' style item, these silly rules.....

<edit> Cush, demister is not part of the emmissions, it clears the fog from the windscreen, my car had one standard but it's not a requirement to have one for a car of my age (or any car for that matter since the ADR ceased).

Shorty,,, i`m more of a fan of the 16valve version,,, but there are WAY more 8 valve versions out there than 16v versions,,, The 8v one is ok, but would lend itself more towards turbo charging than naturally aspirated,,, the 16v one is cool for either turbo or naturally aspirated

K1,,, k1100,,, even the next edition K1200 i`ve been told is cool too,,, but i havn`t actually verified that myself """yet""".

The very late model K1200 i am led to belive is vastly different, (the engine in those actually sits in the conventional "normal" motorbike fashion) but may still have the same cyl head base patterns,,, that i`m also not too sure of """yet""".

so,,, grab what you can in the "K" series dept & you shouldn`t be loosing any money,,, you can allways sell it on if it`s not "exactly" what you`re after.

Yeah, i have a complete "S" disc set up inc alloy calipers, adjustable arms, my own Hi-Los etc etc etc ready to go on for the front, &&&& i allready have a full set of KAD alloy rear trailing arms & superminifin drums & alloy hubs to go onto the rear, much the same as what i had on the New Blew Targa Rally Mini. & a full set of coil over shocks are about to be mounted.

I`ve just got off the phone (yesturday) to a place called "V Force" (beetleracing.com) & ordered one of their tiny weeny billet alloy steering racks,,,MMMMmmmm can`t wait for it to land :-) Yummy tell your mummy :-)

more to come with this beast as my old mate Dale (brother of the famous Allen boys who race motorbikes) wants me to stick this little turbo thingy onto it too,,, so i`ll wait till it`s all running (couple of months) & decide what to do then, if it`s allready too much to handle then maybe i will shove the hair drier on , might as well hey? :-)

Who`s in a bet as to what 1/4 mile times it will do,,,??? with the turbo & without???
