You can't make a mini go "fast" for small amounts of money.

Get over it.

maybe learn the skills by trying things.. you wont spend any money and grow a knowledge that will allow you to modify things on the motor for a reletively cheap figure which will produce a good amount of power. having said that, if you want to go mega mega fast, you need to spend alot of money... ie. race cars, mega dollars are spent on some of them, you'd be suprised how much money even club level guys spend.

You can spend lots of money or you can spend lots of time.

I used to love beating chequebook racers. I used to do all my own work and it was fun beating people that had big budgets.

I was beating an XR6 ute last night from the lights at parafield airport, next to shell on main north road. That was fun I was just cruising, err fast. 3/4 throttle to about 5500 in both first and second, without wheel sspinning this guy got pissed off and hammer ed it and jsut pulled in front i didn't plant it more tho, I only realised when my dad made a mention and said that guy's racing you and I looked. I think that's ok for him to absolutely gun it as he's playing much more in fuel to power his big 6. SO he's got to win to feel like he's getting his money's worth. I'm getting simliar power to wieght figures and can corner tones better, yes he's faster but I sounded better 8) I only jsut noticed how much less up hill power my car has with an extra person :( It's a lot less goey but oh well. That's what superchargers are for

I agree with willy. I have been in some "fast" minis...... and they just dont compare to a Japanese turbo car worth the same amount of invested money.

I mean.... corners are fun and all that..... but theres no point passing someone into the corner if theyre just gonna breeze by afterwards.

Until a mini has a power to weight ratio of 1:3 (or 33hp per 100kg) its just not gonna move fast enough AFTER those corners. A fast mini should have 200hp as a minimum....... 600kg and 200hp....... or 250hp would be better.

Yeah but that is crazy power! How many mini's have that? The KAD mini that raced in the circa 1988 (I can't remeber it's on a dvd i got) won the japanese touring car championship...wiht 16v, 8 port, big cc power, about 210bhp. Dunno if that was the wheels or engine but yeah, quickest car around a short track in japan. But that kind of power is huge powerball winning money. Give at least 80,000 for it to be lighten and done up. I got a normal figure on the dyno today. 50.3 hp. But I got tons of torque lol,(wron dizzy curve) and it beats most cars off the line, for about 15 metres...

Suzuki Hayabusa motorbike engine for around 50 grand, is that cheap :? .
0-60 mph in 2.83 seconds, 124 mph at 10500 revs.
That would be fun until i crashed and burned. I drive a mini so i don't have to much power to hurt myself with.

I got my mini dyoned, and it's dodgy, too little advance. But I got tons of torque and wow its quick off th eline, tries to turn on take off, rather hard to control (is this called torque steer?) I really don't want more torque, it'd be silly. Small car with barely any protection? I don't feel safe with my power. I wouldn't mind more power, jsut no more low end thanks!

hehe, yeah i know. He was loaded up in his ute full of things, he had a cement mixer. but might have been out of tune, he was loud! It wasn't new, but yeah I agree, he could've but I looked in the mirror, he wasn't expecting that. I don't reckon those alrge 6's have much go off th eline. I went for a ride in a mates calias, auto. 98 model. And off the line it's like...WTF?! This is crap, you can't even spin the wheels, that's auto for ya. But it jsut keeps accelarating, where my car doesn't....As I said I got huge torque figures, but not much power. So say 0-20kph is all me, after that, nope. ALso other thing it may not have been an XR6, just badged XR6 is was early 90s.

HAHA, yeah, I will. I guess with that kind of car you know you don't need to thrash it you just go. It doesn't amtter...now you say 200+HP? If that's at the wheels, you'll if not the fastest mini in Aus posible in the world. As I recal the fastest quarter mile mini is 12 something which really isn't that good, it's good for a mini but not for a Jap turbo, heavily tuned wrx's and supra's etc. can do better. It was a mini with rear engine ford BDA thing. It was crazy! Faster than that KAD mini but wasn't FWD and wasn't A-series, cept with KAD mini the only thing A-series was the block I guess.

Holy crap man.
You need to not just type (blurt) everything that is in your head, or read posts before submitting them.

Lots of your posts are nonsense :?
