Yeap..it's not the cam..i run the same diff ratio and cam and i can go down to 50km/h in 4th and pull away cleanly..

with a 1430 stroker it should pull even better..

showing the power an engine produces is a by-product of what its designed to do. Those in pomgolia call them rolling roads and that probably more accurately describes a dyno.

Its a device that allows a vehicle to be driven while it is in the process of being tuned and measuring the respsonse in torque and BHP as each change is made. At the end of a session the car is very accurately tunes for varying conditions.

The common comment heard after a dyno session is that the car just seems so smooth and flat and its only the speed that the telegraph poles are whizzing past that tells you its going soo much better

DJ,

I'm in Brisbane too and will have a look at it if you like. No promises that I can fix it but at least you'll get a second opinion for nix.

In my experience some mechanics are like lawyers, they don't want to fix you, just bleed you for money. :!: If you've been told to change the diff, you may have one of these!

PM me if you're interested.

M.

We have a Morris 1100s with genuine low milage that we bought cheap because of sharkish mechanics.

Basically it was purchased new and owned by a little old lady who drove it less and less as she got older. Church and back sort of thing. The old lady surrendered her licence and offered it to a young teenage girl who loved the car. But because it was nearly forty years old and barely driven, once the young girl started to drive it, everything went wrong.

The young girl took it a variety of mechanics whose standard response was "We dont want to work on it but for a grand we will" It blew a head gasket and for the girl this was the last straw. She ebayed it and we bought it. Brother Kev ( 1310/71to you all ) and i trailered it to Gulgong and once we got it off the trailer we took it for a blat (country roads) to see what it was like and its a Cooper S with a lounge room attached.

Head gasket, skim, valve guides and its still a good car. The young girl was told no change out of $1500 for a head gasket. We did it for less than $200

Beware the mechanic dressed in sharks clothes. They dont understand the car, dont want to know and its $70 an hour for anyone else - $150 an hour for minis
