has anyone used the hypertec pistons
Are they a good / bad unit
Are they good value for what you get, I have been quoted $250 dollars for pistons and rings
Anyone recomend a piston for 1275 fast road use around 10:1 comp

Can't think of anything better, for the money. I know people that race with those ones. They look a bit like a 21253 Hepolite but are stronger- the oil drains are drilled holes, not a dirty big slot.
I got a set of Hypatec 73.0s (1360cc) for $270.
Hepolites (73.5) would have cost me over $600, and this way, I got 1 bore job left in the block for next time..

commonly used by Group N Mini guys around Brisbane, I use the in my sprint mini, absolutely no problems with 8000 revs regularly. Good value for money, tip is to use Hastings rings with them. Steve

where do you get these pistons, are they readily available locally, i.e. australia? or do you have to order them in?

so value for money the hypatecs are the go as opposed to heplite 21253 pistons ?

Would they be suitable for cutouts and to be used on an engine that produces over 140 bhp ?

Fine for that hp and fine for cut outs as they have a thickish crown.

I bought a set of 1360s not long ago from Minisport in Adelaide with hastings rings for only $179.00 yeah hah!!!

The Hepolite 21253s have a milled slot behind the oil ring for drainage. Pistons can break there under extreme duress.
Hypatecs look similar but have drilled holes, a much stronger solution.
I'm running Hypatec 73mm in the 1360, it sees 8000 now and then. I also have them in the 1412 stroker, but it's still being built.
Hypatecs are a great piston, you won't do better unless you go for Russell Engineering's ones. They are similar design but the crown dish is a different shape, better for HP.
Note the 998 ones are on left, 73mm (1360cc) ones on the right.

Doe Russel Engineering make those '1360' pistons in 1330? (+0.030")?

They look suspiciously like the ones in my engine, which I am unsure of the type. The dish in the same way, with a flat lowered section. And the step up to the flat top ring around them is very steep.

Do they have a part number?

<edit> Also mine look very similiar underneath regarding the 'skirts', I think they are called.

1330 is +.060", yes I'm pretty sure he does.

Before he got these pistons made, he used to put the same dish shape into Hypatecs.

Dummmmb, yes. Mine are +0.060" according to my reciept from the engine builders, although the builder's insisted that +0.060 was 1310cc, I didn't bother argueing....
