Thanks guys, are good 1330 (060) pistons available for 11:1 CR? Seems to be a bit of an inbetween size for manufacturers?

You can get either Hypatec, or Russell Engineering, in +.060". Not checked stock today for either.
Both are Taiwanese, NOT made in China. They are good pistons.
The Hypatecs come with Hastings rings, Graham's come with Nippon ones.

Apparently both the Chinese Government and a few Victorians believe that Taiwan belongs to China.

Taiwan is closer to Japan, in Quality. :)

Just want to get people's opinions on gearbox upgrades.

I'm going to run the Remote box with a pot joint diff - no worries.

What diff do people recommend for an engine like this? I like the look of that ATB diff, but I think it may be overkill for the application? Unless it makes it better I won't bother, but I assume something a bit better than a std diff should be used?

Also in terms of gearsets, what are people using - I'm 90% sure it's a mini K gearset in there at the moment - what are people using as replacements/upgrades now? (I don't know the condition of the mini K gears either)

For road use IMO a comp diff pin and new gears is fine.
I would fit an ATB (Quaife) if I wanted something better. Definitely, for `khana work.

A Mini K gearset works fine, but IMO Mk2S gears are better ratio if using a 3.44 diff. If going for a 3.1 or 2.95 ratio I'd use K gears to avoid making 1st too tall.
The condition of 2nd gear's drive dogs and the synchro hub outer ring are very important. When they wear bad it can jump out of 2nd gear.
New 2nd gears are NLA, now so hunt up a good s/h one if needed.

Thanks Kevin,

So a full cross pin diff probably isn't needed? Just a good diff pin?

I can't remember if I've asked, but are the MK2S gears (besides 2nd) still available to buy? I'll be running a 3.44 so I'd lovvvveee a close ratio box

Yes Karcraft and Minisport both carry the S or 1275GT 1st motion 18T gear and 22G1040 laygear. John Smidt and Minis Plus may also have them.

There are 2 18T gears, an 22G1371 (14mm mainshaft) and DAM3167 (18mm mainshaft).
If you need an 18mm mainshaft PM me, I can convert 14mm ones to 18mm with a needle bearing inner ring press fitted. I can also fix worn 14mm ones the same way.

Awesome thanks Kevin, if it is a K gearset, if it's in good nick can I use the 2nd gear from that set to use in the close ratio?

Yes, the only gears different from a K in a Mk2S gearset are the ones I listed above.

Fantastic, cheers Kevin, praying for good condition gears!
