Ok, I'm adding up the $$$ for my 'box rebuild... (getting scary. . . )
The Shifter is next...
Whats the wear parts ?
just the ball on the end of the stick ?
the "coupler" that goes between the rod and the gearbox input ?

what to replace ??

Wear parts will be the fork and ball on the end of the shifter, and also the rod to ball inside the box. There the metal bits. I am pretty sure you will also need to replace a nylon cup inside the shift mechanism. Don't know too much about the ole rod change as i have mostly delt with remotes.

:shock: Forget it too much work :lol: . To tighten up a rod change the easy way is to conver to a remote change! :lol:

The cup on the end of the rod that the ball goes in also wears, i think new ones are hard to get or expensive -either of the two because i remember one of our club members bringing one to a meeting wanting to machine a new one from scratch :shock: . The balls also wear on the stick but are harder material than the alloy cup/union bit. The other obvious ones are the cotton reels and the rubber bush/sleeve that holds the steady bar to the back of the diff.

re the rubber bush in front of the steady bar..
it's allergic to oil. Yeah that's right. :lol: No wonder the bastards self-destruct..
I made one for our Clubbie from polyurethane rod, but Mini Mad's car has a steel bush in there. No vibration, no slack. It's all good! (for a rodchange..) :P
Easy to fit too.

get a replacement from a later model uk mini or sommit, the late ones were all rod change
