Hi all,

I'm looking at bringing in a 7.5" disc conversion kit with 4-pot alloy calipers from MiniSpares in the UK, and while I'm at it I'm going to fit adjustable lower arms and tie rods.

However, MiniSpares advise that when fitting their alloy 4-pot calipers to hydro cars, there are potential problems with clearance when combined with the adjustable suspension arms.

My question: Has anyone here done this on a hydro car? What's the clearance problem?

Cheers,

Clearance where? I ran a metro turbo set-up on a hydro Elf. Guards/arches needing trimming but I would have thought that was more to do with running 12's.

That's what I'm wondering. From the description, when running negative camber arms and tie rods there's a "clearance problem" on cars with hydro suspension. It can't be bodywork, and apparently there's no problem with most 10" wheels clearing the calipers, so that leaves .. what?

What differs in the suspension of hydro vs dry cars? Is the upper arm different somehow which would cause contact with the caliper when used with negative camber lower arms?

I've got stock hydro, 7.5 discs (off a clubman gt me thinks) and 10x5 minilites. Was close to rubbing front guard but after new knuckles and a hydro pump up it has been fine.

Interested to see what adding adjustable bits does, thought would help more than mess things up because you've got some adjustment?
But I am a n00b. :(

Only slight external difference on the hydro top arm is the bump stop bolts to the arm where a lower shock bolt would be on a dry car. I also run 7.5" S brakes on my hydro, shocks too, I can't see what the problem would be. :?

That's what I thought. This car also has shocks fitted to the front, as well as competition bump stops.. and it's low enough to pretty much ride on these all the time.

What aroused my suspicion was that they specifically talk about hydro fitted with adjustable arms and tie rods (which is exactly what I plan to fit)..

I've sent them an email asking them to elaborate.. I'll post the reply here if I get one. If the freight wasn't so damn expensive I'd buy a set of 2-pot calipers as well, and eBay the bits I didn't use.
