hey
well im tossing up between the russel engineering straight manifold for a webber or a bored out warnford, reason is that apparntly gr has a straight manifold that you can fit with out the bulkhead modds.
cheers

Well I had the straight GR one on the 1360, no way it'll fit in a Mini with a filter and no Weber box. I'm not prepared to hack the car up...

So, after driving it to Wakefield Pk once for a track day with no filter, I sold it.
Standard Redline 3005 flows about 137CFM on GR's test bench.
RE 5" Weber one flows 240.
My Redline after 9 hours of (my) porting flowed 197. So- I did as bit more, it'd be over 200 now.

Chong will come on here soon and say he got 5? more HP with the GR one, compared to his redline.
OK- bring on the MRC dyno day, and we'll see... :P

<edit> here's mine with the Redline, a Ramfo filter case, DrMini ST stubstacks and a Finer Filter foam. Works for me...

It depends, there are good and bad parts to a longer manifold. The bad part really is the room, the good part is more torque and more power.

I had to make a box:

But making a box is not necessarily a bad thing... It's quieter and less fumy...

5 hp is too bad for a 600kg car,

with the re 5" (is this the GR one?) has anyone taken a shaving off one side of the flange plate so the mani and webber sit at an angle,

doc i remember you telling me to do that to the warnford, but was there anyroom in between the fire wall and the carby with the GR mani,

could i lean the engine forward 10- 15mm. with that i reckon i could make a decent air/filter box

Actually I got 7hp... from 113hp to 120hp

The flanges have already been kicked up. Graham says not to kick them up too far, you loose their effectiveness. I can't remember exactly, but something like 1 degree on the carb side and 3 degrees on the head side.

Yes the pics of mine above were after I kicked it up.
Standard, there is no way it would fit into the original firewall hole.
When GR says "it'll fit with no body mods", he means for racing.. with NO filter, on a car that has a firewall hole.
NO WAY I will run a carb on the street without a filter, you should see the grit etc that comes out of mine when I wash it (every 5000 miles).

<edit> the carb flange (only) on my Redline (see my last pic) is kicked up as far as I can get it, to reduce the bend- I can do this as it's a Dellorto. I don't think DCOE Webers like lots of carb angle though.
