Hey Chris,

NZ?? pffft he gets calls from Portugal and grinds cams for people in South Africa. You're practically next door!

Give him a buzz directly on +612 9630 2195. Postage from NZ for a head is about $35NZ one way so you will have to factor that in. You can just speak to graham about what he can do given your budget. He can do total custom jobs, do this but not that etc to save money.

Another option is to buy a head located in Sydney and get them to give it to graham directly? I can help you out with that...

Socks and shortenning:
I have 100mm socks on the 45 and i have shortenned them about 15mm so that the total length is around 85mm. I have to pull these in to 70mm to clear the box so that the socks don't touch the box. They seem to be running well, no appreciatable flow loss but I know for certain it is not as good as running nothing at all (nothing really will within the size constraint that I have). I have not had to change the jetting (yet) so the logical conclusion is that it is running as good as no filter or very close. I think it is only just slightly rich, I will find out with the gas analyser sometime soon.

For a 40mm i think you will be fine if you have 60-70mm of sock sticking out beyond the ramtube itself. There are other tricks but socks certainly flow the best that I have come accross including the K&N and Ramflo that I have.

One last thing, if you don't plan to modify your firewall, ramtubes and socks may not clear the firewall regardless of what intake you use. In this case you may need to run a ramflo 400 series and unifilter element with stubb stacks mounted inside. I reckon hhis system will run well for up to and over 100hp so you won't really have an issue.

Another area to look at is porting the intake...
