my opinions:

basic tuning>

exhaust and inlet
* you want a 1 3/4'' exhaust for N/A any bigger wont be any gain Lcb extractor for top end 3 into 1 extractors for torque , although difference is minimal.

*throw your std 1 1/4'' su in the shed and replace with somtheing bigger, Im a fan a single su's especially the newer style hif carbs. 1 3/4'' hif44 is perfect for a 1098 aslong as it is setup right, but a single hs4 1 1/2'' su will be more than capable.

add a pulsar dissy and small cam and you will be looking at 40+ hp @ the wheels

my engine is basically that atm and made 43.1hp and gets around 340km to a tank of fuel.

the next option would deffinatly be the head and cam , A Re-13 cam grind would be the way to go id say as all of the top hp 1098's run them.
Head: there are a few optiond here , std is a 12g202 pretty good heads and can be made very good. A cooper head can be fitted but will have to have a lot skimmed off to raise the compression to something decent, unless you fit raise crowned and flat top pistons. A 1275 head can also be fitted but the block will need pocketing or (but im not sure) if hilman imp pistons are fitted you dont have to??? not sure tho

i think thats all for my basic tuning guide , dont quote me it may be worng

:)

yep that much the same as Mine ben and I wont to brake the 50Hp at the wheels..but I have a RE13 Cam and with a 202 Head..its had a good bit off it and is opened up..but nothing to special. (with a HIFF44) 45.9Hp from the last Dyno from memory can't find my sheet at the moment

you can also a Dellorto but thier is not much between Josh (Minimad) and I and we run the same and I had a crap inlet Manifold. Other wise a Lightend Fly wheel and presure plate may help with the workings. Balancing if you have the CHing Ching

I think thier is 55 normal induction...atleast

Yea..i got 46.8HP last dyno...WA guys still havn't beat us yet, and they run in 4th 8)

I think i might crack another HP or two this time if i run it 8)

Umm..that's +60 dished pistons (1152cc - flat tops would make alot more power), 295 head (good head, but large chambers so combined with the dished pistons and cam i have crap compression)...lightened flywheel, RE-13 cam, standard rockers, (i'd go corolla rockers if i was going to spend the money, Pulsar D483R Dissy (85 would be better), 1.75" exhaust RC40 ..cooper freeflow 3-1 extractors...

i have a very nicely worked 1100 myself and i was told it puts out about 70hp
and i agree with everything benjamin said.

i would add by saying the HS4 ran out of puff on my motor, and i'll be using something better next time for sure.

Been there, done that- 3 times, and 1st one (mine) revved to 8500 with a 544 cam and 12G940 head.
Please fit PTFE buttons to retain gudgeon pins, not circlips, if you're going for the big rev... :?

itll have a 940 head, just standard but recond. (has lotsa meat left as pistons come right to top of bores...seriously decked)
going for the torque with this one, dont want to rev too far and brake a crank :)
what sort of specs hav others got in their 1098's???
