HP....believe when you fit wide 13s to a Mini you can run into fouling problems....

I also believe a fast rack from a van/traveller (whatever) is almost mandatory to get some lock before the tyres start to scrape
(the english magazines have discussed it a few times...)

Cheers, Mick

if I run into fouling problems, I will just rub the guards off with the angle grinder, that doesn't really phase me, but what's this about a fast rack?

surley their's no geometry differences in a differently geared rack.

  I DON'T BELIEVE IN CANT'S

I recon if you gave me an angle grinder and your mini I could fit 20's, if your willing?

I want to know what tyres are available when you do the 13x 8's

I'll try and dig up an article on modifying the guards etc...you can get a rack with less turns lock-to-lock which ("they") say is better for wide 13s...nothing to do with geometry...just limited space to turn a fat wheel and tyre under the guard....you will lose lock because of the wider rims.

a rack alone can't change the geometry of the whole front end. As I understand the only difference with a quick rack si the worm gear is slightly larger, creating more responcivnes, with less movment.

this would require more effort, and make driving around a car-park almost impossible with so much contact on the front wheels

I have Hi-lo's and adjustable camber/castor rods, and Koni's and 8.4's on the front, this makes everthing pretty much adaptable to deal with the loads on the suspension, and improve the handling, I want a good patch of tyre on the road so I can have some fun round the corners.

The Rover Coopers were given a different rack when the sports pack, or sports option pack was fitted.

This was to restrict the steering and prevent any chance of the wheels rubbing the inside of the wheel arches on full lock. Your wheels are about the size that causes problems.

So...the reduced circle rack may be needed on your machine...(even though its a different body etc close enough...)

Haha HPDesign i like your signiture CHOP, CARVE, CUT, MIG, BANG & BOG

13 by 7s seem to have a different rack fitted almost always in the english cars in mini world

just to stop the ability to turn the wheels far enough to rtub the guards i guess not a necessity probably a good thing to have though unless your going to like tub the guards out or something

the guy who knows a lot about the 13 by 7s is matt read TheMiniMan on here hes raced with them for years did Targa Tassie with a mini with 13 by 7s and he has played with the set up a lot
maybe send a PM

thanks for that guys, makes more sence than a quick rack, the limited movment can be created in other ways, but at least I might have to take in to consederation my turning circle may end up a bit poor

i take it theminiman is the same as on www.theminiman.com.au, thanks for that
