yeah, common,,,but in 13x7 form are just """"HOT""" to look at :-)

big problems arise with big wheels tho & superlite are "NO SO" super light weight,,,the opposite really, quite heavy,,,strong, but heavy

the 12s are somewhat lighter than the 13s , so they`re not """too""" bad

but there`s nothing quite like a super dooper lightweight 10Incher, just ask all the girls) :-)

Image

sorry about the big pic,,,i`ll reduce it`s size one day

but here`s a perfect example of , not only something different,,,but just WICKED LIGHTWEIGHT!!!!!!!!!! one of the lightest wheels i`ve ever had in my arms,,,i`m sure fast Carl`s (Mt Titanium) wheels (Force Racing) in england are lighter tho (Go hard Carl you good thing) :-)

ok ok,,,you can`t fit HUGE brakes under neath 10s, but hey, brakes just slow you down,
big reciprocating mass is horse power lost, accelleration is the name of the game...

& also, if you have a little thinky about it all & put it into perspective,,,Huge heavy wheels will need Huge brakes to stop them turning,,,,tiny weeny wheels only need little tincy wincy brakes to stop em, so one thiong leads to another & then "De-ccelleration" is then name of the game trying to oppose the inertia of what you`ve just gone & fitted.

& if you add 4 pot alloy calipers to the lightweight 10 wheels package , then your suspension is going to "RESPOND" so dam well,

& also your corner speed will be far greater than someone with BIG ARSE WHEELS with far less inertia than huge motha heavy discs & wheels ,,,

so,,,it`s all relative,,,big arse engine, Huge brakes & Motha wheels, means lots of inertia

little lightweight stuff means very lttle inertia, easy to toss around & pull up if need be, but then once you`re back onto the "go-fast" peddle,,,, you`re off like a Zertek (or maybe that`s meant to read "Turbo V-tec")

just my theory anyways

"sometimes" (read "sometimes") good things come in small packages, & my girl is small :-)

but more rubber on the ground also means more useable power...ofcourse 10x6's should be just as good as 13x6's in terms of yer rubber patch...or am i mistaken?

For traction in a straight line, 10x6 are probably better than 13s- more bag in the sidewalls to give a longer contact patch.

Boostedmini ran 13x6 last time out at the drags, then changed to 10x6s with A008s and said traction was vastly improved.

12x5 should be fine, they're a good in-between the 10's and the 13's...

minilites are the most common, because they look better than most other wheels on minis, totally suit minis, were used in the italian job, cheap, easy to get..
did i mention look crap hot?

Yeah, well,,,that`s why Andrew was steered in the direction of the superlite 12s

avaliable, cheap(ish) , stylish, almost period looking, & can fit the cheaper/better 4 pot metro stoppers under em etc etc etc

However,,,wheels are definately a very "Personal" choice, hence the reason why there`s a million or more different types/styles out there to choose from...if we all had the same wheels the world would be a very very boring old hole, Right???

& yeah, well,,,there`s bonuses for the 10s

& then there`s bonuses for the 13s,,,

i`ve weighed it up (pun intended) over the years & for my money , ya just can`t go past the weight factor for performance in all dimentions, accelleration/deceleration/handling/suspension response etc

But for the major Bling with big PHAT ARSED 13X7s or even 14x8s, but maybe 500hp monster turbo v-tec would be needed to haul them around & around & then you "WOULD NEED" Big Motha picks to slow em down

"""""""Horses for courses"""""""" (best saying my dad ever taught me)

12s are the "In-betweeny" & do a dam good job of it too

I`ve done so much work sorting out the big wheeled minis over the years & i can say that it really isn`t worth the effort (if you want the whole package really really good that is,,,& trust me,,,that blue mini of mine handles better than """just about""" ANY mini i`ve ever driven) But,,, the 10s get my vote all day every day & no dam hyundai

:-)

The mini was designed to run 10s,,,& maybe it was a fluke that it all works so dam good,,,maybe it was just simply fate,,,or was it that the tyre companies have worked really really hard to make it all happen excceptionally well with 10s, but the fact is, you just can`t beat a well set up 10" wheeled mini, (without gigantically mega sh!tloads of work)

i`ll shut up now,,,way too many cups of coffe for me :-)
