Well, most here would probably think it's a waste, being in a Moke but this isthe specs I have, built 11 years ago this October and still going strong;

73.5mm Bore offset bored to suit 74mm
Nitrided crank
Omega shallow dish pistons, (due to machining mistake I did have 380lb compression)
Lightened rods
Balance to 1100s Flywheel to 10K (never used above 6.5k, peggs speedo)
Enlarge oild feed thru block to all main bearings (still holds 80psi)
Ported head (unfortunately the original cracked 3 yrs ago, still have above average head in use)
Fed via 2 1-1/4 SU's (torque produced via fuel starvation. Run in on M needles, now AH2)
Hi-Torque Cam, basic std duration, higher lift.

Since then, due to age and replacement;

Belt timing kit
Alloy radiator 2" core

Also

Adjustable lower arms, castor bars & HiLo's (set at 6deg Neg Camber - good on the Black Spur)

Yes I have all this in a Moke, call me insane if you like, it's probable true :!:

****GOOSEBUMPS****

I love people modifying Mokes. I got a standard 1275 and this thing flys... what would you say your power rating is now in HP..? Would it be in the 80HP range..? More..??

Can you feel the difference with what you have done..?

What was the overall cost (even rough)?

Would you recommend the work that you have done..??

It's capacity is at 1380cc's, around 1-1/2 yrs after it was installed we took it out and stuck it on a dyno, I still have the printout at home, we registered 140hp and 180lbft to the flywheel, not quite sure where that all came from, but it was worth the effort.

Unfortunately now it is getting a bit long in the tooth, just over 180k on this engine, still pulls strong thru the revs, and I'm able to chase a VN calais over the Mt Dandy Tourist Rd with relative ease.

This engine was a bit of an experiment, but together using a few different ideas used on other seperate engines, my cost $1000, but on the condition that when it died I return it the the builder, who is now out of buisness, I believe the total cost 11 yrs ago was just under $6000.

I'm now in the process of developing my next power plant, just watch this space, it will be something special.

What fuel does this 140HP, 180 ft/lb 1380cc engine with 74mm bore run on?

I have to run it on a high octane fuel, have run it on std unleaded, two exhaust valves later, I thought otherwise, LRP is a real pr*ck to use, it wont idle, as gutless as hell and pings it's head off, can't understand this bit 96 octane.

Last several monthe running Mobil S8000, seems to go alright, does have a bit of compression knock, but a small amount is generally acceptible.

4 years ago I had the privalledge of running AvGas, courtesy of TWR Australia, ex-employer, it flew, no pinging, no hesitation, even better, take the Moke roof right off, this removes the parrashute effect, and you have one very fast rocket, unfortunately I couldn't get timed during this period, it would have been interesting.

Also driving this thing via a 3.44 diff on 13" Gemini SLE rims and 205x60R13 yoko tyres, one of the reasons I've headed for more torque to help get me moving from a standing start.
