I have a mini
Drum brakes all round
I am looking at the camira conversion for discs
12' rims
Do you think that the car will require wheel arches?
I would prefer not to add them to the vehicle

Cheers

Hey manofaus....welcome...if you search here for camira or honda disks you should find heaps of info on the mod....

arches and 12s....that would depend on how wide the rims were I suppose ...you may not need flares....there are tricks to fitting Honda Brakes under 10s and 12s I believe....do some searching mate... :D

it's really hard to get the honda or camira brakes under 10" wheels, and certainly not under standard offset 10"s, so unless you run 12" standard steel rims off a late model car, you'll need wider wheels which will mean you've gotta have flares. Find some Cooper S or late mini disks and you can run without flares..

I have the stocky plastic ones available from Karcraft/Mini Clinic etc for around $60 per set. They're fine and suit the 12's perfectly.

don't get me wrong, its not that I don't like wheel arches, its just that my car is black and I would like to keep the crome edging on the mini (or can you put these on flares?)
I have ordered some 12' rims (contessa type)
Just cos I am a fitter whatever.. doesn't mean I want to do anything that is dodgy...

You sure can keep the chrome edging. although you are probably better off buying new for each side....get the flares painted off the car... 8)

adding a well engineered disk brake set up from a much heavier car is not dodgy....it is a brilliant thing to do :D

something like this? MK2 Cooper S/Clubman S/Group 2 flares, Group 5 flares are the same, but heaps wider

I didn't mean that adding the discs is dodgey, but changing the diameter of the discs may be a little over the top for my liking.
I like those flares.. that is what I am after.
Cheers
