Just been for a spin in a 2002 Cooper S, great car but it hardly had a supercharger whine at all when accelerating, from memory i thought these had a nice whine but this one pulled strong but very little whine, even put the windows down but still quite quiet. What do you think?

and do they have quite heavy steering? just out of my suzuki swift and into the S and it felt very heavy, is this right? the whine for the elec power steering was loud so this is normal though.

Cheers

Steering whine is normal, sounds like a toy car but you shouldn't be able to hear it with the windows up and engine running.

Steering is heavy by small car standards, particularly if the car is on run flat tyres. Put normal tyres on and the steering becomes lighter and the car handles much better.

Supercharger whine depends on how hard the thing is revved out. With a stock pulley it's fairly quies up to say 4k and then you know its there, I have a 15% pulley on my car and the whine kicks in much earlier.

:D
