Post subject:  New MINI (what to look for ?)
Guys,

As I drive alot for work I drive a golf that bores me to death so have decided to buy a nearly new BMW MINI. I would like to know if there has been a guide anywhere printed on what to look for and any know faults. The first ones were recalled due to a problem with the fuel tank or something? Thanks.

PS: I will STILL be driving a classic REAL Mini till the day that i die!

Minimax,

I've no problems with my 2003 MINI, but I know that some MINI drivers have had problems with their MINI's. If you need to know about the problems that some MINI owners have had, you sould really check out some of the posts here http://www.mini2.com/forum/ . There's a lot to be said about informed opinions.

Minimax, mini2.com is the place to start, check out the social forums - Australian, lots of Sydney owners on there who will have plenty of advice on the car and on which dealer to use. There were some faults, check out the faults and fixes forum, never heard of a fuel tank problem. I had a Cooper in which I did over 50,000 Km and now have an MCS. The Cooper felt as good after 50,000 as the day it left the showroom. Most of the problems of the early cars will have been fixed under warranty by now. Buy one you wont regret it. :)
