Spotted this on some coverage of this week's LA motor show.

"BMW Group DesignworksUSA

Designer: Gary Shiu

The Biomoke is a futuristic version of the Mini Moke, a Jeep-like offroader produced by the original Mini in the 1960s. It would be produced in a kit car form. It's body could be constructed from a single sheet of biodegradable paneling impregnated with palm tree seeds. At the end of its five-year life cycle, its body parts could be composted to grow palm trees."

No more info or pics. It was displayed at the LA show as part of a "green" concept competition. An off-road Hummer with algae-embedded panels that produce oxygen when in the sun won.

True....it isn't a real moke. It's just a conceptual idea.

Typical of these types of things though , the Hummer produces a huge amount of pollution in production and running but can be green because it's panels produce a bit of oxygen in the sun ....

I liked the idea of the mokes tyres with the lugs on the side , I thought it'd be great for the sand , then I thought how most moke owners drive (well , ok , how I dirve) and the tyres spend so much time pushed sideways on the corner they'd be bouncing over the ridges all the time , not fun ....

Great idea :!: keeps the greenies happy (more trees). Therefore more CO2 absorption so we can drive more cars! Bring on the biodegradable Moke!

My first Moke was biodegradable - I think that's what it's called when it rusts to the point of returning to nature....... :D

Watto.
