I likee

Drove Cooper and Cooper S.

Was surprised by how little the Cooper had down low (I know it's a naturally aspirated 1.6, but still seemed sluggish down low to me), but pleasantly surprised at how well it went further up in the revs.

And the S, well  What can I say? I WANT ONE!!! (just have to get my finances in order - maybe in a few months or a year) 8)

I should have taken the MINI for a test drive when i was shopping for a new car, but i forgot. I will try and get a test drive in one. I wonder if they would let a 19 year old take one for a test drive, mmm. Especially seeing as i will rock up in the 1275LS, they will probably think i want a joy ride. I might wait till i get the SP23 delivered and take that instead 8)

Keep the revs above 4k and they fizz along!

The beauty of it is that we had already decided on the colour - Dark Grey (can't remember the exact official colour name) with black bonnet stripes and black roof.

The best part is that Leanne didn't want an S until she found out that colour is only available on the S's !!

I had not driven an S for a couple of years before our new one arrived (we upgraded from a Cooper), as my initial reaction was what had they changed? The pickup was better and it drove much better :)

I can easliy see how you could be sold after a quick spin around the block.

Good Luck with your choice :)

My sister just bought a 2002 Cooper S. Looks just like poki's, a bloody smurf.

Handles nicely from the little flick I gave it. With her in the car saying slow down.

But yeah, not much low down. Easy to stall if you aren't used to the clutch.

They cannot refuse you a test drive as long as you have a current license, if you ask nicely I might let you sit in mine tomorrow night as it is the best MINI to ever roll off the production line  :P

If you do make that decision Bob, look closely at the options first, especially DSC.

:P >>> THIS <<< looks like a smurf.

Dunno why but Dark Silver seems to be very very very very very very popular amongst Sydney folk. Come to a BINI meet and half of them will be DS. But if it means you get an S over a cooper then colour doesn't matter really

Yep
and if youve got the A/C cranked up its even easier to stall.

DSC = Dynamic Stability Control, a bit too intrusive for my liking has a tendency to cut power right when you need it most, well it did on the one I drove. Adjusts power to each wheel and brake as needed

ASC = Automatic Stability Control (Attack Street Combat mode  ) Much less intrusive, infact all MINI's in WA are ordered with only ASC unless you specifically request DSC

The good thing about them both is they can be turned off when you want to lay some rubber  not that I would ever do anything like that!
