Hi guys,

I've been reading about the aux input mods over at Mini2 for MP 3 players. (I refuse to be a slave to Ipod ... Creative all the way).

Does anyone now if the cable harness and fitting kits are available in Australia?

Cheers

Jas

Have you checked out this other thread?

http://forums.ausmini.com/viewtopic.php?t=14292

The connection mentioned is just a AUX in, so you should be able to use any device (whether that be Creative/iPod/etc).

The AUX in kit is available from BMW Australia, last time I checked it was a couple hundred dollars.

Cheers
Chris

Chris,

I looked at that thread but on checking the software of my Boost radio I come in at 41 not post-50 as discussed for the home-made jobby to work. Having said that I notice at newministuff they offer a '01/'02 Boost aux adapter kit for the CD changer interface https://www.newministuff.com/new/shop.p ... how&id=245

This would indicate something similar would work ... thoughts?

I used to be a fan of creative, however after a recent firmware update it made my creative player a pretty expensive paper weight. The firmware cannot be changed back to the old firmware and their customer service is horrible. I will NEVER buy another creative product again. I would recommend that users of creative products do some reading on some forums about particular updates before they do them.

I believe that the adapter that uses CD changer is certainly an option for you. (unless you have a CD changer)

Which cable do you have? I believe BMW offer a simple AUX input, plus a cable that allows control from the MFSW. The $2xx was for the later :)

Thanks

Chris,

spent some time with the parts manager at Alto yesterday. Essentially I'm a month out from the mini aux kit fitting (car needs to be built after 09/02) and they have no other option. Based on that I purchased the kit above from the UK yesterday and received an e-mail that it had been dispatched this morning. I spoke with Mike (the owner of New Mini Stuff) and he assurred me that the cable I purchased is exactly what I need ... I let you know how it goes.

Mine is the simple aux cable, have the ipod plugged into a belkin travel charger/amplifier sound is better IMO than the wizz bang MINI job.
