Hi guys, I've just got back from five months away and my poor little car did not take kindly to the lack of attention. I've got a late '02 Cooper S which had run itself flat while I was away. We jumped it as per the guide in the handbook (earthed etc) and now a couple of weeks later I'm starting to get electrical faults ... Driver window suddenly stopped working two days ago (fuse fine) and now my airbag light has gone on. I can't get into Mini for a service before 10 Feb (they're booked up) as I bought the car second hand and am no longer in warranty I'm considering going into a normal auto sparky ... Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is my car going to be too techo for a non-specialised tradie? Appreciate some advice if you have time ... oh and thanks for running a great board. Spent this afternoon trawling through the posts ... seems like a great online community you have here. Jas |

You could try resetting the computer, leave the + battery terminal off for about 15mins, then get something to touch the + & - terminals together to spark it. If that doesnt work just ring your local service dude and ask them to reset it if you pop in, surely they can spare 2 minutes to reset it for you. |

If Jason's fix doesn't work then I'd suggest posting on MINI2.com or northamericanmotoring.com as they are the 2 best sites for technical info on the MINI |

Thanks Guys ... not sure I'm game on sparking out my system ... found another MINI dealership that will let me in a week earlier so I'll probably just wait (and pay through the nose for the privilege) Cheers Jas |

Must admit sparking the system didnt sound like a plan to me either but our service guys assured me no damage would be done and it fixed my problems. |
