Hi all, just advertised my Aug 2004 Cooper S and was wanting to know if anyone has any idea of the demand for second had cooper S. I personally think it would be pretty large as you can't really drive one out of the show room for any less than 45K not to mention if you want a sunroof and other things your looking closer to 50K brand new. Has anyone sold one recently or known anyone that has? |

most minis you may or not realise hold their value very very well for example the other day i saw a mini cooper from 2002 and it was being sold for $24 000 or something so it still is holding its value! but if you modify your car then as it is with other makes as well the value will decrease as nobody wants to buy a allready modified car |

Car is 100% stock with sunroof, 17" rims, car prepped, Metalic Dark silver paint, never had a tank of petrol other than Premuim 30000Kms washed twice a week i'm really fussy with my car. Even put new brake pads and tyres on it well before it's due. Only reason i am selling is it is a very expensive car that sits in my garage only to be driven 2-3 Times a week as i have a work van. Love the car would buy another one in a second! Unfortunatly i will be leaving the Mini owner club. I was just interested to see if anyone had reports on people that can/could not sell there mini privatley? I know they really do hold their value but most the 12-24 month old Cooper S for sale are between 35-42K which is just below the advertised new car price, i thought this might turn a lot of people off them? |

I was looking at buying a MINI recently, but there's a few factors which had some part changing my mind, for now anyway. -02 and 03 models are no longer warranty covered. -The cars hold their value alot better than I thought they would, so price was another thing (EG, second hand MINI base model with no options, or a new car with everything) The thing turning people off second hand cars would be lack of choice, and as mentioned, still selling for just under market price. I'd rather a new one to get the full warranty/ no history side of things, as well as it possibly being an updated model. |

So how much you selling the Cooper S for? And where you advertising it? Would like to see pics of it. We have a '03 Cooper S and would like to trade it in on a convertable, but am not paying $60,000 for a Cooper S soft top. or around the $40,000 mark with trade in. Good luck with the sale, they are great little cars and you'll miss it. |

I would try advertising it in Perth, we only have one dealer and there is no discounts given at all, the prices of 2nd hand MINI's in WA are far higher than elsewhere in the country. I check the papers every week and you are lucky to see one come up once a month or maybe even less. |

Yea mind you it's only been advertised for 2 days but i was just curious to see if people have had trouble selling them. There also seems to be a big diff in prices people want, some i see have 50,000 kms are 2003 models and people are asking 35K others are 2004 with 20-30000kms and they also want 35-37K must be confusing for the buyers Car is advertised on carsales.com.au http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales ... istance=25 Might need to copy and paste the link. I looked at what they are all going for and put it somewhere in the middle, bare in mind in know people are going to offer 1-2-3 thousand less than the advertised price. Babes the only problem i see if getting the car to Perth? |

Harley, Our friend went to trade in his 02 Cooper and they only offered him $16,000 so I'm tipping maybe our Cooper S is only worth $20,000 - $25,000???? I haven't had it looked at by BMW, but I'm having it serviced by them next week. I'll ask them how much for a trade in. |

Trade in will always rip you off so you cant go by those prices. Easy to get the car to Perth a) They can fly over and drive it back b) Put it on a transporter. We had a guy in our club buy recently from eastern states. With a vehicle check by RAC or whoever you have over there, they could even get a member of the local clubMINI club check it out for peace of mind too. |

Lurker, had I not signed the papers for a new car three days afo I would have been all to happy if I got your MINI for $25,000. Don't take a trade in. I was offered $1000 for my Excel, the same car in the yard had a sticker for 8000 on it, and mine is a top model and the other was a base model. I rejected the trade in and am goin privately. I'll get my moneyt for it then. |

Jason sounds like a great idea, would you say place the add on carsales again or advertise it elsewhere for the WA people? How much fun would it be buying a car and getting to drive it home over the whole weekend??? |

I would try advertising it in the West Australian newspaper, fairly sure you can do it online, or even the auto trader. If you need any help getting phone numbers etc let me know. |
