apart from which you would need more than 20K for a MINI

Wait for a couple of months then I am thinking $20k might be a reality. Spotted a liquid yellow Cooper for $26k at a dealer with jack all km's. There's also a black 2002 with a pretty desperate owner, asking $25k right now so he might budge a bit more if you show him the cash. I've recently sold my Cooper for $27k, lost $2.5k in a year which is pretty good compared to a lot of the cars I've had in my time but please buy one with warranty if you ever gonna get one, with that particular Cooper I've gone back to the dealer for no less than 8 times to sort out the airbag issues. It's the earlier built cars (2002) so it's bound to have issues here and there.

I know they're $29500 plus on road, consider this: the new car dealer takes $2095 as their delivery cost and as if you would buy one out of the dealer as a povo pack? Rego and stamp duty is almost $2k. That's $33500 minimum to grab one off the lot new.

I think the main reason they do hold their value so well is you can't get a new one for love nor money at the moment - there's a four and a half month waiting list at every dealer as far as i know!!!

Personally I'd wait a year or even 2 before considering one, by that time supply should overtake demand and alot of the tech problems should be sorted out and the price will drop by a few k at least.

Realistically, finances will probably force me to wait that long anyway, so all good :D

Which is very useful given you can go as slow as you like as long as you dont go any faster than 110kms/hr. :D

Each to their own, my BINI is plenty powerful enough - the numbers might not be big but it uses what it has very efficiently. Being able to do 110 through corners that your average go fast car could not handle in a pink fit makes my BINI worth every BMW price tag cent.

YMMV though. It's all in how you use it.

if you want something more powerful get a wrx, its the only thing that will beat me from the lights. Ford FPV, HSV, Skyline, Supra you name it they are all pushing crap up hill to keep up with the minge. Straight line for a couple of kms may be different but all the roads I travel have bends.

All in a controlled private area of course

Just wanted an opinion on this car, low km's, but its it one of those "2002" models, kinda looks like a shelf instead of a glovebox....Should I run away...or worth a look?

From everything I've read the 02 model had alot of build problems, unless they've all been rectified by the current owner I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole (unless it was like 10k  ).

Thats what I thought you'd say :)

What about CVT?....Found a gorgeous red one in abbotsford, but the dealer forgot to mention that little detail till I had arranged a time to see it....
