yeah well there are a few people on here who are mean, clubby owners get it also, everytime someone posts a picture of a nice clubman, theres always some dick who gives em crap about it not being a roundnose or whatever.
i dont blame ausmini, but yea there are some nasty people around, its pretty sad for the whole mini community really..

i have no problem with bini drivers/owners who respect the classic, and i'd buy one if they werent so grossly overpriced.

Well ihave no prob with MINI's. I think as far as a replacement
for the old mini it is an excellent example. I have met a few
MINI owners before and i htink they are great.

The only people that pay out MINI owners are those that
know they can never afford to own one!!!

same car thats suits you might not suit the rest of the world. after all isn't it been unique and individual. it's not so much the car, but the attitude of the people that drive them.

why can't we all just get along? come on people...grouphug. :D

If that's true it's a shame, I've seen that same smile on the drivers of $500 Minis as $70000 MINIs. Thats ALL that matters. As for money...Maybe MINI owners admire Mini owners cause they get their fun so much cheaper?

Clearly misunderstandings or following the illinformed brought this on. Mob mentatlity finds you picking on someone schoolyard style for whatever reason popular.

It is inspiring and refreshing to see peoples challenging this.

Thankyou

Mate fair enough u guys do get a hard time, the main reson most
mini owners have a gripe with MINI owners is due to the way they
snob us. Many a time Emm (betty) and I have been out in our
minis and waved at MINI drivers they just ignore us. or laugh. THAT is
what her opinion is based on.

What she means ( i would say) is that she thought that was the normal
behaviour of MINI owners until she met some MINI owners on the weekend, where
her perceptions have changed.

Maybe a fix to the cause would be fixing that chip on ur shoulder to stop u writing a curt response to someone who just said she liked you!!!!!

I reckon you getting snobbed came to be is because 95% of Mini owners are enthusiasts whereas only about 15% of MINI owners are enthusiasts at this point in MINI history. Of these most are Cooper S incidentally.
For example I'd figure 80% of ClubMINI is Cooper S, the rest are Coopers. These stats mean few waves from new MINIs. It's nothing personal, just non awareness. This snobbing does happen MINI vs MIN unfortunatlyI. As I understand it was the same when the classic Mini was in production. Few first owners were enthusists. History repeats?

someone who just admitted to judging me (and all other MINI drivers) without knowing me is more acurate.

I've owned and driven numerous minis for longer than some of you have been alive, yet when i come to Ausmini, (or wherever the community meets) there are some members of that community hell bent on making me feel unwelcome because i chose to buy a MINI. you can call it a chip on my shoulder if you like.

The hatred of MINIs is splitting the mini community in half. its only done by a few people, but the quicker the community members who do not engage in it realise it, and stamp it out the better off we'll all be.

precisely.

when I was a kid, mum and dad drove a mini, and used to wave at other mini drivers. very rarely would they get a wave back. Hospital car parks were full of shiny yellow clubmans, because nurses like cheap motoring. were they members of any 'community'? no. would they wave? no. were they 'snobbin' us? no. its a paradigm thing.

Is it wrong to make judgement based on your past experience Mr G? :?

Thanks Chris, your words are exactly how I feel about it...

Obviously the main point was missed in my last post.
I'll point it out for those who may have missed it.

I know it's never easy to admit that you may have come to the wrong conclusions. I think it's brave. :D

IMO its not wrong to judge the behaviour that you've encountered, provided you never fall into the trap of judging the person, or even worse judging their 'kind' based on your experiences.

I get what you are saying. I think from your experience you thought that enthusiast MINI owners didn't exist. But the one's you have met this time are the enthusiasts, who you know doubt have something in common with. We are out there, we are just in the minority.

I'll grant you that 90% of MINI owners just don't get the waving, flashing meeting for sunday drives thing. But lets not let that get to us.

The behaviour i'm talking about really is only displayed by a small number of Mini owners, and you may not even be one of them. I just wish the one's who do it would desist, because it really isn't helping.

I'm glad you've had some good experiences with New MINI owners. I like to think some of us are OK, too. 8)

awwwww feel the love :D

i agree with every point the MINI drivers have raised. I was unaware
to the extent that they were effected by these things and I will vowe
from this moment on to pull up people that say derogatory (sp) things about
them.

As stated, it is the minority that is causing massive fractionalism and in reality
we should all embrace the commonality and creat a great mini community.
