Hi I'm thinking of buy a bini. Anyone know mods are best for a supercharged and can yiu buy them in oz? i was thinking new aur box, bigger pulley, cat back exhaust?

You will want a smaller pulley not a bigger one, 15% reduced is what most go for. Cold air intake will give you marginal gains. A decent exhaust is worth getting. I would suggest rear sway bar, had I known the difference this made it would of been one of the first mods I did.

A remap or piggy back ecu will make a big difference too, i run a unichip on mine.

This is an extract of a post I made on there years ago regarding the mods I have done and if they were worth it.

JCW tuning package - lots of debate re value for money at the time but no regrets from me.
Alta 17% pulley
Modified JCW air intake - removed flap
X-force headers - sound is awesome
Modified JCW exhaust - see above
Unichip - highly recommended to bring all the mods together.
MTH remap - good for higher rev limiter and retarding traction control
GTT intercooler - fin on one side falling off, poor weld
GTT snoot boots - one side started to leak after 2 yrs
GTT oil catch can - works well
GTT expansion tank - lid is a pain in the ass to get off
GTT power steering reservoir - no problem
GTT oil cap - no problem
GTT dipstick - handle fell off
GTT air filter - actually provided less hp on dyno than standard JCW filter
GTT twin bearing idle pulley - no problem
Alta radiator hose kit - no problem
Alta air intake tube - no problem
Screamin deamon ignition - no problem
Nology hotwires - removed as they seemed to short out and cause power failure
Sprint Booster - huge grin factor

Eibach springs - almost too low, JCW springs seem to ride better especially on country roads.
Alta 19mm rear sway bar - brilliant should of been one of the first mods
JCW strut brace - see above
JCW brakes
TSW engine damper - not sure it does much
OS Giken clutch - removed and replaced with oem, wasnt really suitable for everyday driving
OS Giken lightened flywheel - see above
OS Giken Super Lock LSD - love it, car turns in much sharper

Aero kit - front spoiler keeps coming loose, could be result of too low ride height scraping
Colour coded arches - no problem
JCW side stripes - no problem
JCW bonnet stripes - no problem
4 x MINI spotlights - no problems restricted airflow etc
Stubby antenna - just as good reception as OEM
M7 Extreme bonnet scoop - creates an ungodly whistle from 160kmh upwards, horrible
Orciari hood scoops - no problems and look great

MINI valve caps - logo has fallen off them all.
Underbody neons - great w a n k factor for attracting jap ricers

So why is the 17% pulley better than the 15%

smaller the pulley the faster the supercharger will spin. At one stage I had the JCW pulley and an oversize lightweight crank pulley (oversize here will spin charger faster) which is much the same as running a 17% pulley. Didnt like the oversize lightweight crank pulley as it gave too much vibration (no damper on the pulley)

17% gave the same power but with a damper on the crank pulley which smoothed it out again.

My dad has the 2nd JCW delivered in Perth, mine was the third. Decided to mod mine to the max as I will inherit dads stock JCW whenever he kicks the bucket. I often joke with him about this.

Only thing left really I could do is twincharge it, put a turbo on after the supercharger which would give me roughly 400hp+ but at the end of the day with 250hp it is enough. You can never use all the power.

I would highly recommend the sprintbooster, takes all the hesitation out of acceleration and puts the full accelerator range in the first 3/4 of the pedal. Anything past 3/4 does nothing but makes the car so responsive it is remarkable. I drove with a permanent grin for months after installing it and found myself actually giggling like a girlie the difference it made.

They really are a fantastic little car despite what some haters here will say about them. Im not too keen on the turbo models, seem just a bit too refined for my liking more like a bmw. The supercharged models are great imo and think they will become the collectable models in years to come. Less room inside than a classic though.

Lots of people overseas have had problems with ECU faults after running sprintboosters for a while. Its an expensive mod for something that doesn't actually do anythhing to performance anyway.

I had a bini S years ago, just put a K&N filter and 15% pulley, a JCW charger and uprated brakes. That was everything I needed.

Was the freight from the US expensive? Are there any good UK sellers?

WHere did you get the JCW charger? Second hand? Also I noticed some of the cat back exhaust systems are very expensive. I found this one in Aus. ANy good you reckon? http://www.exhaustshop.com.au/mini/

I left the exhaust stock. Can't comment on that.
I got the charger from a local parts importer who got it overseas.
If I get another bini I wouldn't bother changing the charger over again - the uprated one had more power higher in the rev range, but I liked the original one because it 'felt' like it have the engine more low end power.
