Basically want to compare the differences between the different years and what was upgraded on the newer models.

the R53 came in in 2004, with 3kw more power in the Cooper S and I think the Cooper stayed the same, plus the R53 seemed to be built better with better quality finishes

Not on a cooper S because the factory fit the exhaust with a centre exit.
The non charged car can tow something if you really want, but the gearboxes dont last under the cars own weight let alone something else.

yes you can fit a tow bar to a cooper S, you need to move the centre pipes to to either side. ( PM kenhenry on www.mini2.com he has done it!)

Yes you can, MINIFINI sells a kit for the S. :)
