When doing a coversion with a starlet do you have to use a starlet GT engine or can you use a normal stocko starlet engine. Pat |

My sister has a Starlet Life. My Brither has a GT Starlet. I know which one I prefer. Of course you can use the N/A starlet buy why would you? They certainly wouldn't be any cheaper than a GT. |

You could use a standard starlet engine they are basically the same. I believe the only differences are a weaker gearbox and clutch, different intake plenium, different computer and a few other small differences. Of course lack of turbo, intercooler etc. Apparently internally they are very similar. If you go to www.austarletclub.com there is lots of info about both engines. There is also a company on there called braidedlines who has a turbo kit for the standard engine that puts out more power than a stock 4E-FTE. But if you want a turbo engine I reakon it would be cheaper to go the imported engine unless your going to go new turbo, intercooler, engine management etc. |

Van, $2000 is roughly standard but as you can see prices vary. Mine was $1900 (plus freight). I'd get onto this, though you might want to ask alot of questions if you can't go see it as that is a very low price IMHO. Andrew would you agree. |

John, Matt is exactly right - if it sounds too good to be true it usually is. Why so cheap - check to see its got all the bits and hasnt become the 4efte parts bin i.e. bits missing. Minster - the company is reputable, been round for quite a while. I had atlked to them when I was looking for my frontcut and they didnt feed my any BS. Its the little things that go missing that are annoying that you dont notice till you get it home, like output shafts, TPS, etc. However, worth a look. Cheers, Andrew |

Also check that it has the MAP/MAS or whatever the important exhaust sensor is as I think these cost big biccies to buy second hand! (As do throttle position sensors eh Andrew). There are two sensors that sit at different spots in the dump pipe come cat converter. |

Dead Right Matt - TPS are anywhere between $130-160 if you can find one new. I am still looking for a second hand one after smashing mine against the mini box-bulkhead. Andrew |

The sensor right at the turbo outlet is the oxgen sensor very important the other after the primary catalitic converter (big cast iron thing) is cat overtemp sensor not as important but still should be fitted ie will run OK with out it |

Thanks for clearing that up 92, don't know all the lingo yet. And Andy as for the TPS bloody bulkheads...Still have my shiny new Toyota TPS sitting in box  .
