Dose anyone want this engine for a conversion? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/180906332110 ... 1438.l2649
I've looked at it and spoken to the owner so if you really want it it can be brought off ebay for $500 even.
The bad news is the engine is a bit tired. The head has been rebuilt and it dose run but it has a knocking noise (seems to be from the back of the engine so may not be in the block but that's just an assumption). Their is mayonnaise in the radiator (the oil cap is clean though). The owner claims the gearbox and CV's are all rebuilt with a new clutch but I did not drive it so I can't back this up.
IMO the engine may need a full rebuild to guarantee it will last but I could be wrong. This engine should make 67 bhp on std boost (which I think is 7psi). The whole power house should only weigh around 65kg and being such a small set up fitting into a mini sub frame should be fairly easy.
If you want to buy it and your local tell me and I can get it for the $500 off ebay, I don't know if the seller will offer anyone that same deal.
If your inter state and can not pick up send me a pm and we can organize something.

I was thinking about doing the conversion that's why I looked at it but with the possable engine rebuild needed I don't have the time for that so I thought I'd let you guys know about it.

Damn, thats really tempting.
Any idea how spare parts would go? If i look into it myself I would want it and then buy more stuff I cant afford.

From what I can tell it's pretty much a std Charade G10 with the factory fitted turbo, I don't think they changed the comp ratio 8:1. Also being the std single cam parts and replacement engines and gearboxes are as easy as getting another charade with the same engine. I also think the VSR kits to rebuild the engine is around $300.

You'd want to freshen a motor up anyway as you have it out for the conversion so it makes sense, especially being turbo I'd definitely want to reco that stuff if not fit a bigger one :) $500 Bucks is pretty good really, especially when you can strip the car of its full wiring, an accessories and basically swap it into a mini. Could get a conversion on the road for a few grand if you were willing to do all of the work

Ive tried getting them on the road for a few grand before. Got a starlet money pit and am being tempted by this now.
Might just delete it from my watch list and forget it exists.

Yeah a few can mean anywhere between 3 and 10 for my one right now, having said that the basic part has been cheap, it's all the other stuff added on that brings the bill up.. It pays not to think about it :P

Haha yeah, youve got it well sorted though.
A roadworthy car with a few good bits ready to drop a frame into.
I ignored hindsight and tried to build a car at the same time.

So someone buy it, I can crate the engine and loom if your interstate (I'm sure we can work something out). It's a good deal I reckon, the reason I'm not buying it is I simply don't have the space for another project.
