this is very cool, can be done in about a week! no mods to the car body fits right in the engine sits in a subframe that bolts into the engine mounts and it has a proper reverse! uses a high torque starter with a reduction gear, very cool. pretty good price as well.. i reckon this would be pretty easy to get legal, the bloke spent 7years developing it and it has a proper reverse! No body modifications required. The car above has standard front and inner wings still installed. http://www.lynxae.co.uk/Products-MiniR1.htm ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us goes hard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtU2ZNV98HE |

Turns hard right , not great but ok Turns hard left , I said left , again just ok Its interesting but I just don,t like the weight balance , I know they are a bit lighter than cast iron 500pounder If it,s in the racecar with race spec coilovers , go for it ! . |

my swift mini sits in the same spot and it's great to drive, handles the same as the good old A series. |

$6000+postage for the kit plus an R1 engine, sounds pricey. The R1 only came with about 70 ft/lb of torque which is fine for a bike that weighs 171kg, but put it into a 650kg mini and it won't be as "urgent" as minis with 120ft/lb or more. A decent crossflow head, sprintex or turbo, or a combination of the above sounds better value to me... But yeah, cool |

oh yes a bit of money but by far the cheapest bike conversion around. i think the kit is great, not something i would do but credit to them for it. yes not so much torque but big to end power and a revving motor 145 to 160bhp. just thought it was something very cool. i converted it the kit is 3,000.00 GBP = 4,671.75 AUD but then import tax etc freight would be up in the 6k as you said. |

a couple of points... 1. It doesnt have a reverse gear sorted yet.... as the engine is backwards 2. The cradle set up whilst a brilliant idea wouldnt be that easy to pass for an engineer certificate 3. Promotive is a better bang for ya buck 4. I would totally have one... lol ![]() |

I'm curious as to why you think the cradle would be hard to pass engineering? |

An electric reverse is OK on the track, but I thought the design rules here prevent its use on the road? Don't have a link, but I do remember it. |

Lyxae 3000 pounds EXCLUDING VAT, no reverse, includes a qauife, need to sort a shifter(!) So 3500 pounds Inc VAT, no reverse, quaife, no shifter. Promotive 3500 pounds INC VAT, INC Reverse, EXC Quaife 3000 pounds, EXC VAT, INC Reverse, EXC Quaife 3500 pounds Exc Vat, inc reverse, in quaife, shifter sorted! I would lean towards the Promotive. Furthermore that Lyxae one uses custom driveshafts whereas the Pro Motive uses factory shafts. Not putting crap on you NG, I think its awesome you've found another option. I've been fighting an internal urge to buy the pro-motive kit while I'm on the top side of the equator. I'm thinking of buying one and chicking it in a container home. |

Perfectly OK Doc as long as you have some sort of mechanical or electrical interlock that precludes you from engaging reverse while any forward gears are engaged. Fairly easy to sort!! Cheers, Tricky |
