Post subject:  Round Nose with 4EFTE - South Africa

Hi Guys

My name is Anand and I'm from Durban, South Africa. I'm currently building a round nose mini with a Toyota Starlet 4EFTE motor.

I started the project just over two years ago with a friend of mine.

This is what the car looked like when I bought it.

I'm hoping to finish the car off by 15 May 2011, fingers crossed.

This build looks really good - nice work! Had to get a vuvuzela in there didn't you!

Why is there an extension between the exhaust manifold and the turbo?

Thanks for the kinds words guys.

Amos, which vuvuzela part are you referring to  . Since the length of the engine compartment has not been modified, we lowered the turbo so we could get a bit more clearance from the grill.

Kennomini , I'm painting the car red with black roof. Very similar red used on the car already.

Can anyone who has knowledge of the starlet 4EFTE, tell me how the vacuum pipes for the actuator should be connected, if i don't have a solenoid anymore, i have a boost tap with one input and two outputs.

I have it connected like so:- vacuum pipe out of the turbo into 1st pipe of the actuator, out the 2nd pipe of the actuator into the boost tap, one output from tap vented to atmosphere and the other blanked off. I have my boost guage running vacuum from my intake and and my dump valve as well.

Note that i havn't driven my car as yet. When i rev it the actuator does not open the wastegate, is this a problem or will it work when i'm driving and the pressure builds up??
