ok, has anyone been brave enough to try and import a completed z cars mini (mid mounted motorbike engine type)?

Has anyone imported the kit and built one for themselves? If so, is it approved and how did you go about it?

It has almost done my head in trying to find a starting point with DOTARS, Customs and local Transport trying to find a solution.

Anyone with any info at all, please let me know as I am very keen to tackle this project.

Cheers

Steve

You won't get it registered as a electric reverse won't pass.

cheers kuzzy, seems like a pretty stupid thing to get caught up on, you would think cutting the rear of the car out would be a bigger issue!?

I will def find out if that is an issue in Tas as we are a bit more relaxed down here.

do other states have Trade Plates?

here in south oz a car workshop gets 'Trade Plates'

which let them drive ANYTHING on the road legally...

i've often thought regarding engineering/legalities etc etc it may be easier and cheaper to set up a business and get trade plates rather than go through all the b...crap of getting stuff 'legal'....

food for thought.

Well i dunno about the law in your state. But in qld, even if you have a trade plate, the car needs to be roadworthy (ie. legal). Its just for workshops to drive unregistered cars, Not unroadworthy ones... Sorry

I know this as my old boss got one for our workshop to use and told me the rules he had to obide by.

Sorry to be the fun wrecker

nah... if the cops saw you driving something day in day out with the trade plate on it, they'd take the plate off you quick smart

it's only for running cars between workshops etc.
