Can any of you guys who have a 4EFTE conversion on the road tell me what revs the engine is doing at 100 & 110km/h. I am curious to find out, given the difference between the Starlet (std 165/70/13) and Mini (std 165/70/10 or 165/60/12) tyres means that the Mini tyres are around 11-13% smaller. I know the Starlet does about 3200rpm @ 110km/h. By my calcs it won't be that bad in a Mini at ~3600rpm @ 110km/h, so probably a waste of time looking into what's involved in changing the 5th gear ratio to a lower ratio or final drive ratio. With the tyre size you will probably get a more accurate figure if you measure the circumference of the tyre than by using the tyre size. The easiest way to measure the circumference is to make a mark on the sidewall of the tyre at the bottom and another mark on the ground next to the mark on the sidewall, then roll the car one tyre revolution till the mark on the tyre is at the bottom and make another mark on the ground then measure the distance between the two marks. (if any of that makes sense?) |

I guess I would have found that thread if I had put the right stuff in the search box. Maybe I was being too specific with multiple terms in my searches.  Thanks JC.
On the upside, I now have that GearCalc app.
