It has been done. I don't think it is legal in most states.

One of my mates was looking at doing a FWD 10a but ditched the idea because of the engine size being slightly to large. a 10a rotary has a capacity of something around 1960cc and the biggest you can go (in NSW from what ive heard) N/A is 1920cc and mating a 10a to a FWD gearbox was abit of a pain in the backside. But yeh there is someone on youtube that has some videos of his RWD 13b build over in England so it has been attempted.

This was my mates rotary. 10A fitted to a combi box. It was horrible, but to be fair, he did do a number of hillclimb events. It just needed time to be sorted properly.

You must have a bad memory, it was mounted to a VW type box (kombi/Hewland/?) with the motor inside the car beside the drivers legs.
There was big doubts over the legality of the whole thing at the time. But it was fast!

Do I have too? I've tried e-mailing him in the past with no success. I'm really after photos of when the Hume brothers had it.

It was a Hewland, 13B and turbocharged, and the shift pattern was backwards. I've got a review of the car that appeared in "Racing Car News" back in the 80's. The Hume brothers couldn't sell it complete, and ended up selling it as a roller. I spoke to the current owner with a view to buying it a few years ago. Haven't given up hope of buying it, just need more bugs bunny.
