Most of you probabily don't know yet but I have bought this van a week or so ago, with a 2000 model EFI Siron Datiutsu Motor in it, once built by a forma member here on ausmini. Heres the link with the build and specs...

http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... ght=gzevan

Looks like the rear bottom engine mount has broken clean off. Hard to tell yet, going to investivagte it on the ramps tomorrow, but it looks like its cracked the weld in the bracket that holds the mount...

Of all the engine mounts to brake, this looks the hardest to replace... thinking that I am going to have to go to a specialist to get it done..
Looks like my little Van has too much hp and torque steer for daily driving with the current modified engine mounts :( Mite have to investivate on something stronger to hold it.

Doesnt sound like a power problem from those design figures.

Im going to put my money on fatigue failure and creep.
Any chance you can get pics of the damage?

it only made about 40hp at the wheels on the dyno at minis down under, so unless it has a turbo now, you're right

It's made 50hp now from more tuning etc... but i just feel that the welding mounts look dodgy for the power ratio..

was thinking about going for a turbo soon, but just trying to figure out how much I'd be up for, and if i can use my same ECU, or have to get another... so I would want to make sure the mounts are good..

All those dyno numbers at Minis down under were low Simon, remember.

ok so heres the sitch...

at closer inspection this morning, it doesent look like it has cracked the welds, alltho it is still fairly shakey at idle, and I can rock the engine a bit more by hand. The rubbers in the mounts have small slits in them, as in the rubber is starting to perish, but as far as I can see its not broken. I took the air filter box off to get a closer look at the one above the gearbox, and as i rock the engine, the rubber within the circle mounts, moves. It's not heaps, but there is movement.. When I start the engine it rocks quite substantionally, so i just don't know if they are gone or not?

I know there is meant to be some movement, but not sure how much? When i rev it, the engine moves, and it seems to be becuase of the mount above the gearbox...
Any ideas??

Dude it's a 3 cylinder engine, their balance is intrinsically not as good as a 4 cylinder so I bet that's why the rubbers are `compliant'. Gets rid of the vibes.

just a quick update, got the car looked at, and we found a few things were loose, causing it to shake figuresly. Fixed that, and its better, but the engine mounts are on their way out thats for sure. As soon as I have time and money I will be replacing them along with the gearbox oil, and probabily another service. Also will have to see how much it is going to cost me, to get someone to mount the alternator elsewhere, as the position it is in, is causing some issue with lack of power and roughness. Also doesen't always seem to be charging. All and all, its going ok so far.
