Not as quickly as one would like Matt. However, since I now have some serious competition, its time we got all the other stuff out of the way and concentrated on getting it done - dont you think???

Good god, any one have any idea on legalities of this on road? Take a lot of design, but they seem to have done a chunk of it already.

it's legal in Australia, Tricky and I have both had engineer sign-off for our conversions

the biggest engine you can use with the CRV gearbox/driveline combination is an Integra B18C (Type R etc.), which is an awesome engine - there are sub 10 second n/a integras around

Hi Forumites,

A conversion like this is not that hard to do.

I am selling everything you need to do it, bar the fabrication of the front subframe and rear cradle.

I would really like for someone to take this on and make it a success and show 'em what Aussie engenuity can do. Unfortunately, I dont have the time or the space to do 3 or 4 projects at once.

A while ago I went and sat down with an engineer renowned for not doing dodgy jobs. He said that if you hack at the original sub-frame it wont pass, but if you are adding to it it's OK. He also mentioned that if you made it rear wheel drive then the car would have to pass every ADR for the year that its registered in. my 2 cents...

Well there are different engineers with different points of view passing judgement on different rules in different States.

And so the story goes.......................

I guess ALL the Starlet conversions I've see in NSW don't pass then.
There is only about 1/2 of the original subframe left... and that's mostly across the back! :lol:
I do see where this engineer is coming from though (and I agree), I have seen how much they flex on the drivers side front.

At least when the Yanks fit a VTEC they toss the whole front subby away, usually.

So the question is, if we got a frame from the US would we ba able to get it passed here?
