This is one quick car...

I think Ausmini Mini/Toyo conversion people should be beating a path to Mr Forbes door :!: 8)

Image

Oran Park fastest laps...and generally the order the top 5 finished

1 66 G Ford 70 Ford Escort 0:48.0663
2 15 G Watts 79 Mazda RX7 0:48.3869
3 50 D Loftus 98 Toyota Starlet 0:48.4398
4 86 C Stevens 82 Mazda RX7 0:51.8197
5 87 G Tillett 76 Alfa Alfetta GT 0:53.5979

A 48 sec lap around the Oran Park short circuit is quite a quick time :!:

Yes it sure is!!

I did a 1min 18.68sec on the Grand Prix circuit at Oran and that was in an SR3! That would equate to about a 50 sec lap on the short course. So a 48 is very quick

That quad throttle body plenum looks the goods........

Cheers,
Tricky

This car was very fast N/A now it is turboed it's quicker again!
When N/A it was capable of top five lap times in over 2 litre improved production but ran in under 2 litre
Engine is not 4e though so if you tried to build one now you can't without a weight penalty it was build before the rules changed

yes but with the toyota it is much easier/cheaper to get parts, it is more reliable and you don't have to split the head to change the camshafts. only pity is that there was never a 2L version, oh hang on, that was the 3SG :P

it just does not have the weird idolotory powers that saying "BDA" does

I`ve just built an 1830cc version of the 20v for a friend of mine who races Improved Production up here,,, little white corrolla fast-back owned & drived by Greg Craig,,,, Big Troy Marrinelli in the Turbo charged 2L escort is another one of my friends/customers.

i`m keen to have a peddle in Improved Production category & i`m building a Turbo twin cam road mini for exactly that :-) Notice i said "Road" mini,,, hee hee,,, drive it there, race it & drive it home again :-) But i`ll probly only play up here at Morgan Pk & Qld R/way tho, have the occasional fling around Lakeside & some club sprints etc

Nice Starlet tho,,, glad to see a FWD mixing it with the big guys,,,,

good stuff & well done to whoever owns/drives/built it

Matt,

Did I see Greg drive his white Corolla at the last Lakeside sprint day? I think he was up against a bunch of MX-5's, a couple of Escorts and a 240Z. Last I saw he was doing ok!!

Cheers,
Tricky

Nah don`t think so tricky, we`ve had his engine out for the last couple of months getting the re-build ,freshen up with another overbore & a stroke job to boot, now we`re adding all the dry sump crap, He`s not got a very good head on it tho so we`re going to build another complete engine during this year with a bit more "room" & bigger lumpy things
:-) Gregs car is #55 & has "Torquey Hotel" sponsorship down the side of it... he generally only runs with the improved production races now days (mid-Pack) , Troy Marinelli turbo escort, Justin Wade Bimmer, Micheal Sukuha another corrola, Justin Keys RX7, Bruce Cook turbo escort etc etc etc they`re all getting pretty dam quick these days & once im back on the track (maybe end of this year) i`m pretty sure i won`t be able to keep up for some time they`re that fast... I`ll be happy to play around the back of the pack & just sort my thing out for a season or so,,, :-) Cyl heads are free in this category & turbos are allowd but with a restrictor, virtually no body mods allowed ,,, but lots of brakes, steering & suspension mods are allowed so i`m going to set up my old green roady "S" with my trubo Bimmer Twinky race donk & give it all i have. Once it`s all sorted in that car i`m thinking i`ll swap it all into my black sports sedan & go play around the back of the sports sedan category in a few years.
