just did a little read up on them, they are supposed light weight engines....2 men carry instead of 4??? the one on ebay is a 750cc that due to light weight components puts out same power as a 1020cc a series.... (dont know about that one.....)

but the other size they make is a 1400cc which i reckon would go alright...

They are an all alloy engine and are fairly lightweight. That one looks like a marine version. It is missing a few important bits like the magneto.
It is very similar to the Climax engines used in early Lotus cars. (Lotus Elite, Eleven, etc.) but is not related to the Climax F1 engines.

The Hillman Imp engine was based on the design of this engine but it is very, very different.

that is just because of the nice green paint. you should be able to look up the NSN and see what it was used in........if they are still in service.

Saw a fire pump on the weekend at a fire engine concourse we happened upon in Luxembourg.

There are probably more CC firepumps left now than Hillman Imps..
My bro took his Imp to the Hillman CC show at Dubbo recently, he got best Imp.
There was only 1 other Imp there, and it came all the way up from Victoria.

It is lighter and makes more power.

But look at where all the vital pares are...at the back :? and their is no gearbox so it would have to be mated to a mini box (or am I not seeing the gearbox in the pics?).

There is no gearbox in the pic, there is a big silly marine flywheel though!

This pic may look a little better... It is a Climax from a Lotus.

They were regarded as fairly hi tech in their day!

They even made one as a motorbike engine I believe......

They had twin cam 4 cyl F1 engines. (Used by Brabham for his first two world championships)
They had 4 cam V8 F1 engines. (Used by Jim Clark for his two world championships)
They had a 4 cam Flat 16 F1 engine!
