Hey Ian,

How is the family??? Mum and Bub OK??

I was thinking the same thing, or the whole back end of that into a track Mini........

Interesting little engine those. In standard form the turbo's were just too small, but with a new Turbo and a bit of tweaking they used to get reasonable performance. Add that to a "light" body like a Mini....

coming up on 25 years old now...funny how the Cooper was a collectors car by the time it was 20 years old, but nothing seems to spring out from the early 80's (apart from the usual exotica)..

What, so I should stop looking for that perfect Investment Camira??

You're right though, the '80s were pretty craptastic.

Dead right Mick, except for European stuff of course (Ferrari's and Aston's etc)

Actually a concourse Camira could be worth a bit in the future, purely as a collection item  But seriously how many are in top A grade condition these days? in 20 years it will be as rare as the $hit from a rocking horse fed on hens teeth.

Perhaps we should be picking up cars like this. Maybe Jap cars will increasingly become more of the focus for future collections...more so than American/ European cars?

Better start scouring the papers huh?

I've been wondering that myself but what would you get ? Something like this would be a good starting point I think as they were sporty , mostly reliable and turbo but not crazy (supra turbo etc) . The AWD TX3 laser comes to mind as well .

All's going well thank's Tricky , just preparing for the inlaws invasion this weekend .

If you use the Bathurt test, that would make it XD falcons, early Nissan Skyline GTR's (makes sense), the Ford Sierra Cosworths, SS Commodores, BMWs (which models??)...

Not that big a leap actually, the skylines are definitely classics....

For a truly classic Skyline you've got to go back to the 70's GT-R 2.8l

The trouble was, they didn't come out of the factory in A grade condition. :P

Right , the boys will be around to beat some sense into you shortly , just open the door and let them in when they ring the bell . You should know that mini's are for life .....
