Have been off Mini's for a while, but starting to get back to my very long running project. I have a G13B that I have had for a while and plan to put this into my 76 Clubman S. Although I would love to do a bike engine conversion, I believe changing to rear wheel drive is a no go as far as getting it engineered. I'm keeping it N/A and don't have a subframe or anything like that, or the skills to make one. My mini is already completely painted as i decided to go for the G13B after it had been painted. All I really want to know is, what exactly needs to be done to get this thing into a mini and running properly as to be honest it is above my current knowledge and sounds like a big task and is hence putting me off doing it. So what are all the little things that need to change to make it fit? Can it fit into a clubman without cutting, touching the engine bay at all? any parts of the engine need to be moved or changed? Is anyone making subframes for them? I have been reading a lot of threads on here about them which are good. But Id still like more info and also like to get it into one place. So as you can tell I know sweet f all about doing the engine conversion. All the other mini stuff is fine and most of it is back together besides the front. I just need to know every single little detail or things involved with getting the G13B in and running. Cheers Todd |

Hi Toddles, Dont throw out the mid-engine rwd design just yet. QLD Transport has actually given the OK for this design now so its full steam ahead (although we are still fighting over the bike-engine inclusion bit). ![]() I have only done one G13 B, and that was into a Moke. There are minor inner guard mods needed, and the alternator needs to be relocated. You will have to get the driveshafts altered of course. PM me if you need more info. Cheers, Tricky |

Yeah saw the hole that got cut in the inner guard. What about the bulk head? Knew drive shafts would be need, but that is alright. I also heard you need to run an electric water pump? Id sell my soul for a two seater, big bike engined, rear wheel drive mini. Probably why I am taking so long to do anything, just waiting and hoping it can be done in QLD. |

G13B subframe, I thought he was getting out of it!! Still, I would pursue rear-engined rwd if I were you Toddles, just for that bit of orginality. Let me know what you decide and we can progress it further. Cheers, Tricky |

Cheers, Tricky If it could 'Legally' be done here in QLD, then I would consider it. I haven't rebuilt the G13B yet so no money is lost there. The expensive part would be getting a subframe to hold the motor bike engine, but then I wouldn't need to change the front subframe either. I could also sell off the other parts I wouldn't need like the new rear seat, my twin tanks etc etc. I just thought changing the drive wheels of a car was a big no no. I love the sound of a big bike engine, but I don't like the dying factor that comes with owning a bike. |

Toddles, I said rear-mount rwd was OK, but the bike engine is still up in the air and at the moment still no. Still, a rear-mount rwd would be excellent if you found the right engine. |

So where did you find out that the rear-mount rwd was ok? Finding the right engine might prove a problem, but then again I don't think i would do it unless I could go the whole hog to get that motor bike engine noise. Might keep my ears open to hear a bit more on this subject, before fully deciding what to do with my mini. If you hear anything else about bike engines then by all means let me know. |
