It's been done a few times before but the main thing is it's an old motor design and it's heavy compared to the likes of a 4efte etc . Another thing is I don't think you are legally able to use a motor older than the car you're putting it in so you'd have to be careful that your mini is older than your donor 1800 . |

thats awsum, and how about modifications to the subframe, and moving of items around the engine bay? is there much to do?? bill |

It's the same as any engine conversion in a mini , you need to modify the subframe and driveshafts amongst other things . It's not easier just because it's a loarger version of the original if that's what you were thinking ? |

Those B series things are boat anchors, much heavier than an A series. HP even when modified is nothing to write home about. There are better, newer, lighter engines around that go much harder and are smaller to fit. ![]() |

I'm sure I've seen a Mini in miniworld years ago that had a 1700 (ish) cc 'O' series motor in it. I think we only got them here in the Morris 1500. That would be an easier conversion cause the Morris engine bay is a similar size and shape to the Mini and the engine is still over the box. All the above reasons NOT to do it still apply though.
