Hi does any one know if you can fit an air con unit to a gti in a roundnose? If so which one would you use?

Go to a wrecker and see if you can find something that has an equally small cabin as a mini, that way you're not have to both install and turn a large compressor. You will not be able to mount it to the gti motor as it is mounted in the gti as it will interfere with the mini tie rod mounts. You coould look at the US Honda type conversion for inspiration as they seem to cram it in there. Having said that their subframe gets rid of the tie rod mounts.

I'm hoping to put AC on my honda mini... I'll try and get a rover mini dash unit, and I've got a couple of honda compressors, but anything'll do... gotta find room for the condensor too of course

Funny, I was think this exact question over breakfast this morning. That green GTi powered Mini in "Mini Chat" has me thinking!

The Unicla condenser fitted to some Rovers with under-dash air is pretty small, slightly smaller than a Mini radiator. I recon you could mount it in the old rad shroud area, prehaps on it's side, if you are using a front mounted rad.

Some dudes on Minimania forum do it by putting the condenser under the car, in the rear subframe area.
I guess no good for rallying...
