Man those Rotary boys have a thirst for fuel. Check this setup out! 
http://www.ausrotary.com/viewtopic.php?t=135513 Note - I'm posting this in here for someone that might be looking for a no fuss fuel set up for their conversion. You could quite easily use one pump to fill the surge tank from your twin mini tanks and use the other to feed the motor. |

something I've never had explained to me JC - what's the purpose of one of these fuel surge tanks? |

I think the rotors have a long, flat-bottom fuel tank so under hard acceleration or hard cornering there is the potential for fuel to surge to the back of the tank, the pump to go dry, lean out the mix and potentially grenade a mega bucks motor. This issue is less of a concern for the minis given that the fuel tanks are fairly 'tall' and you won't get the fuel slushing around. I have one of these surge tanks but not sure if I'll use it yet. Fitting a surge tank allows you to run the return line to one area rather than splitting it out (if you have twin tanks). It also provide that bit more capacity but does increase weight. It also allows you to say "Hey if there was ever a tyre that could hold the car on the road that would allow me to pull 10g round that corner, the motor wouldn't get starved of fuel". JC |

so that's what it's for... ? a safe place to get the fuel from so the fuel pressure doesn't drop on hard cornering? |

All tanks that come out of non efi cars have the potential to surge as carbys had a fuel bowl which was the reserve for when surge occured in non efi cars. Dan |

Dan ah hah..... OK, might be a good idea to leave space for one in my van then, as the standard tank is squat and wide |
