Hi All 4EFTE builders

Quick question, mainly to the already registered cars

Have you guys been able to have your driveshafts inline from your hubs to the inner CV's?

Was this an important criteria that the engineer wanted?

I am having a few dramas with my VTEC project! Mine at the moment are on too much of an angle, engine is not far enough back.

Any help appreciated
Cheers

Hi Monda,

Yes, most of us have ours pretty much straight through - maybe slight angle of 1-2 degrees but nothing more (in saying that, I think Dean's is on a slight angle like 3-4 degrees).

The straighter you have them the less issues you have like torque steer and premature CV wear.

Cheers,
Tricky

question: the engine squats under acceleration (i think :P) so you couldnt have it exactly straight cause it would end up with negative angle? has anyone worked out the optimum angle so that when it accelerates it will all be level?

cheers

Not exactly.

The suspension squats under braking, and raises (unloads) under acceleration.

The motor rotates around the mounting axis - in reverse to the direction of wheel rotation.

Therefore, the best angle to have the driveshafts is neutral and not leaning more to one or the other, as both conditions will be realised during driving.

Cheers,
Tricky
